16,000 RPMs on a boosted 2 rotor???

What are the highest RPMs you've ever heard of on a big boosted, precision balanced 2 rotor?

Someone I know who knows more than the average bear is claiming a motor is being built for him that will be able to reach 16,000 RPM. This is considerably higher than what I thought was possible, but i really don't know ****, so that I why I'm asking the forum.

All i know about the motor is that it is a 2 rotor Cosmo motor, pinned, not your average rotors/seals, precision balanced, peripherally ported, and will see 35-45 psi.

16,000 RPM??? What do you think?

Do you have a link to the video showing 14k rpm? I remember a thread on that car and MPS talking about hitting 16k, but never heard that they were able to do it. I've seen vids of that car hitting 10k rpm, though.

Yeah, I just did some more searching and that's the sense I'm starting to get. Looks like one could be built that'll take 14k-16k RPMs at the drag strip, but it can not be expected to last the whole race season. Definately to be put on a frequent rebuild schedule.

its unnecesary in my opinion, if you make the power lower in the rpm band and still be fast there is no reason to rev that high

It would only make sense if you have the transmission/gearing to make use of it (and a tranny that will hold together) and the porting gives you power in that band.

Would these rotors be made of another material, possibly aluminum?

oops nevermind I checked out the videos and he only hits 10k. his gauge redlines at 14-16k. go to streetfire.net and search mps, still impressive in my book

I've been a passenger in a 2rotor hitting 11.5k.
I always did wonder how that added up in the grand scheme of things.

I drove it too, but I dont think I dared take it to even 8k.
