Are you building the 12a or are you having built???? If you are turbo charging a 12a and you first concern is the turbo timer, you need a lot of questions answered that you don't even know to ask yet.

Yea holy ****, you can give a monkey (I love the monkey sayings) enough bananas and it could slap a turbo onto an engine. You just turn it on, run lean, and then not run at all.
You need to prepare a few things
Turbo fitment (Got enough room, got the right manifold?)
Turbo plumbing (Intercooling piping, Oil inlet/drain for turbo, downpipe fitment etc)
Fuel managment (Carb jetted enough? FI injectors large enough, fuel pump good enough, or how about even having a fuel controller like an SAFC?)
Carberuator preperation, is it ready to recieve positive instead of negative air pressure?
Drivetrain prepartion- Does the stock clutch and pressure plate have enough friction to hold down turbo power? Tranny ok?
I mean I say all that becuase if your planning on running a turbo setup, and asking about a turbo timer, then the above im assuming that you don't know most of it.
If you don't want to listen to me, and get a book on turbocharging, then learn the hardway, its your money.

general maintance is going to be the same as any car. Just be ready to scratch your head alot, as you troubleshoot getting it to run. Took me four months to get the bugs worked out. I'm almost bald. But damn it's worth it.
Also, if you wanna turbo a 12a goto the 1st gen section. Lotsa info in the archives and search function.
