All my welding has been self taught. Still can't weld aluminum and not the best at welding mild steel with the TIG.. Welding the 304 was cake.
Cracked the righ hand axel tube almost all the way around ! Only thing that was holding it together was the piece of weld for the sway bar mount !

Very lucky

Noticed a bit of a leak from the righ hand rear wheel area (stress crack) then came back from small drive (only two full power hits) check car next night, and saw a heavy amount of oil on the ground, thought better get under car and have closer look found a bigger crack than on a cheap hooker

Result from minor bottoming out under full power in 3rd and 4th gear near 7000rpm exceeded it usefull life and could have cost me mine !

haha.. bigger crack than a cheep hooker...

But yeah, that is the kind of stuff that needs to watched. Don't want to think about what would happen if an axle tube broke loose! I think I should crawl under my car tomorrow and give it once over to make sure everythign is ok after driving it over 170 miles now.

*update*

Now that it's winter I'm going to change the manifold WG runners a bit. With the manifold in it's current state I get boost creep even with a 46mm WG fully actuated. I have a few pic's of what it looks like after 3500 miles. It has held up awsome! The only thing that has changed is the color a bit. But anyways... Tell me what you think I should do to get better control over my boost.

So are you going to modify your existing manifold or build a new one? (i want your old one )

congrats on the good build -- looks like it held up just fine.

ps. I subscribed to this thread long ago and was surprised to see an update!
