S5 LIM on S4

Because switching the S5 UIM onto an S4 motor is hard, is it easier if you swap the LIM as well?

Or, does the S5 LIM bolt right up to the S4 motor?

Cool. The S5 UIM adds approx 10hp from what I have heard in the 6k to 7k range. But swapping only the UIM is a lot of work and not really worth it.

Well, its hard because the S5 UIM (Series 5 13B or 13BT) (Upper Intake Manifold), does not bolt up to the S4 LIM (Series 4 13B or 13BT) (Lower Intake Manifold) without modding it. This makes the swap hard for little gain.

The model is a FC, being in the second gen forum.
S4 = 1986 to 1988
S5 = 1989 to 1992

Because the motors are all the same for each series (i.e. a 1986 motor is identical to a 1987 motor) the specific year of my car is irrelevant. Though from my post, and sig, you could determine that I have a S4 motor.

I assume if it swaps no problem on the turbo it would also swap no problem on the non turbo.

Can anyone confirm this though?

VDI- Variable Dynamic Intake.

Some have said that the S4 LIM flows better.

^ Thats what some say. Personally, I have used both s4 and s5 lims feeling no difference. Looking at the port runners between the S4 and S5 LIMs, they look identical. . Its not worth all the trouble to keep the S4 LIM unless you need to keep emmisions. You can't use the S5 Lim on a S4 block with emmisions.

The S5 UIM does not line up with a S4 LIM.

So I thought of swapping both to make it easier, thus making sure the S5 LIM will fit on the S4 block.

Why do you need the S4 LIM to keep emissions?

This wont be a problem soon enough, but more for curiosity.
And if I can't use the airpump with the S5 LIM then I have to remove the port sleeves.

I didn't think using the S4 LIM was that hard. Just a little grinding. Nothing too hard.

Do you by chance have a writeup, and maybe one for adding electronic aux activation?

Thanks.

The emmisions ports on the LIM on the S5 is in the center of the LIM instead of on the ends like on the S4

Thanks for the writeup, looks challenging.

Thankfully I have a spare motor to use as I think this will take me awhile.
