I never had that problem. Several questions I will ask you to determine your problem would be.

1. what kind of cross-member you used for the 3 rotor conversion?
2. and how was the kit completed?

I had a friend that was having the same problem with his 3 rotor conversion but it was because the custom made his cross-member from a stock one without taking the proper measurements to accommodate the engine in the correct position and the kit they used didn't work at all. So the car went every way but forward.

I'd say, that your toe is overly negative or your stearing rack is loose on the subframe.

I am waiting to have the t56 kit installed and tested. The I already made alot of upgrades like 1000hp axles, Kaaz diff, ect now I'm working on t56 kit and some fuel changes after all change then I am planning to take it back to the dyno to go for my original goal of 1000hp plus to the wheels. I stopped at 831 because car was spinning the tire on the dyno even with 2 people in the trunk plus it kinda dangerous to go for that much power and brakethe OEM transmission, axles or differential and injure somebody. I want power but safe. That is why I created the SFI certified bellhousing in case the clutch explodes it would be contained inside the bellhousing. Then after that I will be taking it to track and make some low boost passes and maybe raise the boost and let it all out (get kicked out of track) no roll cage

Looking forward to seeing how the tranny pans out for you. I know it's one of the next items I need to address, although I just have a "mild" 650 HP 3 rotor version

When you have it together, I would be interested in your feedback on street drivability versus the stock setup. Does it shift smoothly, etc?

I am looking forward to this being complete. I am dropping mine off at rotary performance tomorrow to have a voltage issue fixed and the rear end upgraded...

Test fit

Last week we test fitted the bellhousing to the T56 magnum and then to the engine and we have some tweaking to so but everything is coming out great fits perfect under the tunnel cover. We will be working and creating a trans mount, short shifter, etc. So far I found that we might have to use the stock automatic starter that installs forward. Unless we can come up with a solution for installing a smaller starter, because they would like to offer the bellhousing also for 2 rotor conversions but it only would work now if the have a automatic back plate. So we are working on that. Will keep you posted but I am very exited how everything is coming along. More pics to come. Stay tuned.

Transmission search

When I started my search for a replacement transmission I concisered several options like guru trans (not available), greddy 6 speed (not available)or HKS sequential 19,000 not a option lol. Then I looked at the t56 it was very vesitile and cheap to rebuild if anything went wrong and several companies had upgraded trans that could hold upto 1000+hp. So I decided at the time to go with the standard t56 the only one available at the time. The pros it was able to hold 450hp, availability was good in junk yards and price was reasonable at around 1,800 to 2,300 depending on milelage. But while reschearching Tremec came out with their new version of the t56 called the t56 magnum capable of holding 700 torque and much more advance in technology. The price is 2795 I believe. So doesn't make sence to pay 1800-2300 for a use t56 thy would handle less torque and you really don't know what kind of abuse it was put thru that you might install it and then a couple of months later might have to take it down and rebuilt it costing you more time and money. So I decided to go with the t56 magnum for obvious reasons. Also the new trans comes with 1 or 2 yr warranty and I can be upgraded to a 1000hp+ transmission brand new out of the box for around 2000 more I think. I should be posting some pics of updates probably today. Hope it helped.

If anybody is interested I will be selling the parts I'm taking out of the car like the 3 disk ORC clutch only 50-100 miles on it amazing clutch cant use it with new trans. I also have a stock trans with short shifter. Driveshaft, torque bar ect. Stock differential, axels.

Is there anywhere where you can get custom gear rations for the T56? Id love to swap one for its strength, but for my application I will be making significantly less power, and really have zero interest in the double overdrives. Id like to have tighter more closely spaced gears, with 5th more towards 1:1 and and 6th somewhere around .8x. Just wondering if thats a possibility, because in searching I havent found anything.

Since your going NA as I am, you can go with the T56 m12 tranny (GTO/CTS) with 4.44 or 4.77 Rx8 rear axle ratios and get close to what you want. Use this page to input the gear ratios and see for yourself. Personally I want that tranny with 4.30 gears. As the 5th gear is better suited for acceleration than the stock fd 5th gear. I also want the 6th gear for strictly highway fuel economy.

http://www.f-body.org/gears/

Edit actually an S1 or S2 Rx8 6 speed tranny may work for you. It is said they will handle 300lbs torgue at the tires. NA 20b wont come close to this. The main issue with the S1 tranny's was the faulty clutch pedal mechanism that caused some trannys to prematurely fail because of them NOT being fully disengadging when fully depressing the clutch pedal. What I mean is the weak poorly designed factory Rx8 clutch pedal was mostly responsible for the failed Rx8 6 speeds. You won't have that problem with the Fd's set-up.

^ The rx-8s trans is appealing to me, I just wish I was more confident in its strength. I plan on road racing a good bit, and the occational trip to the drag strip , and I just hate to have a potential weak link always in the back of my mind. The ratios do seem close to ideal for what I want though.

proper cooling of the tranny on the road coarse should alleviate that concern.
as for the drag strip, I dunno what to tell ya.
