I just checked ebay and there going for $600 and up. I understand your concern but that's something really cheap for a more direct fit. If I didn't have plans to eventually turbo my 20b, I would go with the Rx8 tranny without question. I just wish it had a taller 6th gear for the highway.

After doing some research it appears the '09+ Rx8 box was redesigned and should be considerable stronger. Do you believe this to be the case? They are a bit more expensive (obviously, being newer) but if it wont break on me Id gladly pay it.

T56 magnum ratios

here are the ratios available for the T56 Magnum

Tremec Magnum Transmission Gear Ratios
Magnum Ratios
Part Number 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th Reverse
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.80 0.63 2.90
2.97 2.10 1.46 1.00 0.74 0.50 2.90
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.80 0.63 2.90
2.97 2.10 1.46 1.00 0.74 0.50 2.90
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.80 0.63 2.90
2.97 2.10 1.46 1.00 0.74 0.50 2.90

They are all interchangeable so you can select which 1st gear, which 2nd gear and so on. Also you should consider the diff perhaps a 4.30 or a 4.44 from a RX8. Hope this helps. feel free to post any other questions.

Sorry can't help you on that one. There aren't enough moded S2's out their to test the reliability.

Some of the changes are the t56, exhaust upgrades, drive train upgrades, axles, just settled changes. As far as the Tremec when I ordered mine they ask me what set of gear I wanted. It is t56 magnum. I will let you know whn I'm done.

Would anyone know if a richmond 6-speed ordered for a GM would have the same bolt pattern and alignment as the T56?

To my knowledge transmission bolt pattern are unique to each transmission and when you purchase the bellhousing for the transmission it make it fit to your application but that's not always the case specially with a richmond transmission since it is a racing transmission. I wouldn't know how steetAble would it be. When I was considering transmission, that was one of my things to consider and very racing transmission company I called they questions their transmission streetability. That's why I decided on the t56 magnum, streetability, 6 gears for duel economy highway, strength, and parts support, very available parts and it also comes with a warranty since it is a new transmission.

Hope it helps

They are making progress on the bell housing. They already had created one but the circumference was a little bit off, so they are recreating it as we speak. Should be done soon. Also wanted to see if anybody would be interested in creating a group buy for several T56 Magnum transmissions. I spoke to the guy that is working with me in this project and he said if we can come up with at least 5-10 transmission he can give us a good deal and free shipping and handling to US. If anybody is interested let start a list here and i will check what I can do depending on the amount. Also i have a torque bar for a t56 GTO conversion for FD brand new that im not using, if anybody is interested let me know.

Have you solved the issue of the shifter being 4 inches short of the hole in the transmission tunnel if the engine's rear plate sits in the stock location.

I am in the middle of this exact swap and had to find an interesting solution.

What is the status of this? Is be in for a group buy if it happens. I also heard rumor of using a different tail section on the transmission to get that extra 4 inches...

The project still moving forward but making some changes to make it a easier installation. Working with sponsors and providers to make the best option available to the rotary community for transmission swap.

Gearbox

Hi Mate

I have been following your thread for a while. I have two questions, Firstly, Do you need to change your diff and clutch in order to install a T56 magnum gearbox? Secondly, You mentioned about the bolt on kit, did you actually mean that, it would be a plug and play? or minor mods would be required to fully install the kit?

The reason I am asking these questions are because, I have a 20b FD and I am considering T56 magnum gearbox.

The relevant modifications to my car includes the following;

The 20b Engine was pushed back for weight distribution purposes,
The Engine is mounted on to the Stock FD gearbox as I am still considering other options.
I have a Kaaz 1.5 Super Q Diff

By looking at the list above, do you think that I would need to modify something (above) in order to install T56 Magnum set up?

Cheers
Sid

i will be running he Kazz differential, with 1000hp axles. Yes the clutch need to be changed because the clutch center hub is different from the input shaft of the t56 magnum. Yes i working with several companies to complete a bolt on kit. Yes we are working on a plug and play kit.

the kit will bring the t56 transmission, clutch kit, transmission mount, drive-shaft, and any other parts needed.

^That would be awesome. I'll be in need of something sooner than later as my tranny is showing some wear and tear from the 20B. My PPF just bit the dust as it got twisted from the torque
