I would love to drive out but I wouldn’t want to be the only one driving from Chicago considering its a million miles away
If there's a caravan heading to Sevenstock from the east coast or the mid west then you can count me in.
Anyone, anyone, anyone going to take the trek from the east??

There will be some people driving from Houston and Dallas I know. Not exactly on your way, but your really kinda coming from an area limited on passers-by.
FWIW guys, it looks like the tide may be changing for me... there is a good chance I will be caravanning out to SSXI myself with a group of 8 or 10 from Houston.

Well if someone would like to make arrangements to meet up with me then by all means I would LOVE to come out for the festivities assuming my wife will be ok with it considering at that point I will have a new born baby for the first time and it will only be like 3-4 weeks old.
If you drive to Houston it's 1100 miles. From Houston it's another 1500 miles to Irvine. About 2600 miles one way.
If you drive to El Paso it's 1500. Its about 700 miles from Houston to El Paso, so if we met you there it would save you about 400+ miles. Still another 800 miles to Irvine. About 2300 miles total.
If you drove thru Colorado to Irvine (the "direct route") its about 2000 miles and you could meet up with the Las Vegas caravan on the way maybe.
Those are pretty much your options. If you book with Southwest.com you can fly each way for as low as $179 each way.

Thanks for all the info!!!
I'll let it play out a little bit and see if any east coast or mid west guys want to go and maybe drive straight through with them. If not then I'll look into some of these options so I'm not driving the whole way by myself.

No problem, anything I can do to get another rotorhead to Sevenstock.
With gas prices climbing higher every year I only hope the yearly nationwide pilgrimage to SoCal doesn't dwindle in numbers or die out altogether.

hahaha I could only IMAGINE how much that would cost me in gas to get there. If I was to drive out there right now with the way the car is running I would have to take a loan out just got gas. Right now its BEYOND rich considering I only get about 75 miles to a tank of gas LOL HAHAHA
I'll let you know what my out come is once we get closer to the date.

Yeah, the Houston crew is actually going to tow a few RX-es to the show with something like this:
(one of our members owns a small car dealership)

Well be driving one of the guys F350 Powerstroke. It will probably get the same gas millage with or without the load. Those things could care less if there was a 8000 lbs load back there or not.

So fly down, go to the Hotel, and meet us there Friday afternoon. Get a Dinner ticket too for Saturday night. Nader always forgets.
If I knew I had people to hang out with then I'm down, I just didn't want to end up alone over half the time there because that'd be kind of crappy.
Otherwise I'll just drive the 8. Something to be said about working air, power, and quiet... and 4 seats in case Nader breaks down again.
There you go, you can hang out with me and whoever else shows up. But be warned at 7stock I walk the rows, go to all the tech sessions, and tend to be at the announcements, BS with Mazda corp guys, and at least part of the drawing... so it is an all day thing.
Sweet. I always thought that the 10AE shoud have been 20B anyhow or at least they should have built a limited number of 20B S5's.
Might have set the FC aside as a true collector auto i think.

yeah, I keep considering leaving it stock and finding another FC, after I did so much to the body (including painting it myself and hand rubbing each layer) on the 10thAE. But it will never be a perfect example of the 10thAE... after all it has been repainted, won't have the original motor... so if nader comes through with the 20B... it will be a 320 HP 10thAE.
That doesn't bother me really. I was there the entire day last year minus leaving to get lunch/sit down for about an hour.
