Tall order?

Seeing that the RX-9 announcement is going to drop tonight, do you think the SoCal RX Club can use their extensive Mazda clout to surprise the staunchest supporters of the rotary engine with a tease of the RX-9 at SSXVIII?

How about a corporate guy telling how great the RX-9 is going to be using 8 x 10 glossy photos with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back.

What about getting the Tokyo slide show overheads from Japan. Those can be emailed in time for SSXVIII.

I'm sure you can find an interpreter to narrate to the crowd.

I think the "RX-9" phraseology is probably premature... Mazda's marketing peeps would be missing an obvious ploy if they don't make the production version a 4th-gen RX-7.

The RX-8 was a very different animal from the RX-7's, with the whole "4-door sports car" gambit. Full seating for four, high roofline, no hatch, traditional trunk... only commonality was the rotary power plant. As different in it's way from an RX-7 as an RX-3 was.

The RX-Vision, OTOH, is right down the RX-7 fairway.

My opinion, anyway.

yup, which is why when Mazda brought us the #55 LeMans winner, it was FLOWN in.
Mazda doesn't take any chances with that car.

and anyone who hasn't read that story by C&D about the Cougar Ace, really should. It's a good read.
I remember when it happened there was a lot of discussion about it and what would become of some of those cars.
