If you noticed the drive-in and out behind the big TACO-BELL building... it cost us THOUSANDS $$ this year because of the same people acting up. TACO-BELL was refusing the use of their property all together until we invested in the speed-abatement procedures. And we also had to pay extra insurance $$!!

This year, we've already been put on notice for the guys who were burning out right on the front driveway of TACO-BELL when we opened the gates and the cars were coming across the street to come in... man!

I know you guys do the best you can with the event, and there are things outside of your control. It definately sucks. It was really sad to have to go over the speed bumps and through the barriers, I knew exactly why those were there.

Hopefully IPD will go easy on us for next year, but human nature is that the asshats will be hauling *** and showing off and ruining it for the rest of us.

I was at the pool till late, I witnessed the shenanigans. But I never saw anyone throw furniture in the pool...then again I was sitting at a table close to the hotel windows. It was sad seeing the sign in the morning and the half-drained pool. I hope it didn't damage SS's relationship with Doubletree past the point of no return.

Everyone,

We need to collectively stand up when we see things like this happening (pool incident) and stop those participating. If we can't self-police ourselves, then Sevenstock's days are numbered. I'm all for getting together and having a few drinks poolside with people that we only get a chance to see once or twice a year, but I think we all know when we've had maybe a few too many.

"If" the hotel will have us back, I'd like to see them shut down the pool area at midnight and we could organize a small group of volunteers to bag up the empties and clean up the area before lockdown. Just my .02!

Yeah beginning of the day I saw like 2 and was thinking to myself "I'm gonna laugh when those retards get rolled". They made it perfectly clear no BBQ's but some people figured they'd try to get away with it.

I don't see why...the Burgers were damn good and only $4.

With the honor of having me car in the BHR booth, I took the opportunity to stand at the entrance to the Taco Bell and take a picture of every single car passing. I missed 5 I think, and another couple that people walked in front of or whatnot.

BUT, I was shaking my head every few minutes from the number of people that felt that less than 50% throttle was impossible going around the corner.

When I heard (didn't see) the "difter", I heard the cop's response, asking who wants to pick him up. After the car was off to tag him, one of the other cops could be heard saying "It's a target rich environment".

But that doesn't mean that we have to BE targets.

Just as a few cops can give the profession as a whole a black eye, so can just a few asshats put a mark against us.

I'm glad I left before the pool incident, being there would have almost completely ruined the day for me.

I am still uploading pictures, but my trip thread has been updated http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=197270&page=20

I literally have over 400 pictures of cars crossing the street, almost all from the same angle in the same position, will link when I get them up.

One of the best highlights of the day for me ended up being the multi-hour talk with Vanessa and Kyle (Rotary Doctor?) not sure the user names. I took a look at my return trip, and Joplin is a bit too far out of the way to make swinging by there work. I will have to postpone that visit until some time in the future.

I went off to talk to a friend near the ramp to the underground parking and you could hear the pool party over the freeway behind the hotel. Hotel staff asked us to keep it down at one point, and everyone tried, but then it resumed the "roar" it did before. You could see people peeking out of their windows with the room phone in their hands, I saw this twice. I never saw anyone throw anything in the pool or act destructive.

As for the two guys choking each other out, those are both good friends of mine, and the issues leading to that incident were months in the making. It was unfortunate that it came to surface at the pool party. Alcohol certainly doesn't help.

Both friends are ok, they got broken up and resolved their issues, even stayed in the same room without incident. And yes it was over one of the guy's fiance who was sitting with them at the time.

Not sure if there is a base thread over here on 7club. I just finished this and posted it on 8club.

This is by no means all of my pictures, merely a few hundred of them.

1 picture of each car as they crossed the street (almost all of them with the same zoom, angle, position, etc...), only missing a handful of cars. I apologize to those, as well as the few for which I had obstructions.

Base Album: http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...k13/SS13-Cars/
RX-8s http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...SS13-Cars/RX8/
RX-7s - 3rd Gen http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...0%203rd%20Gen/
RX-7s - 2nd Gen http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...0%202nd%20Gen/
RX-7s - 1st Gen http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...0%201st%20Gen/
Other Rotaries http://s871.photobucket.com/albums/a...er%20Rotaries/

There are still several panoramic shots I have to put together.

I talked to Vanessa after the event. Her dad Kyle (Rotary Docter) flew out from Missouri. They didn't get in.

She was about forth in line of those who didn't get in the main lot...even after getting in line early. Seems that they left other lines in before hers and she felt pretty screwed.

I had talked to another guy inside, the proud owner of a 17,000 mile '89 vert...he said he was third in line of the cutoff...Vanessa said yeah, he was right in front of me.

I can think of at least 4 cars that should have been in the piston parking area.

Sorry...I just had to say it.

Otherwise I think it was an awesome Sevenstock and had a flavor all it's own.

IMO the flaws were minor for an event this big...if Irvine, Taco Bell, and the Doubletree can't deal with the these "minor" flaws...then it's time to take it to the California Motor Speedway at Fontana.

Berny, Andy, and all of you did good.

All lines, by generations, were let in as they arrived. If you were in the 2nd gen line and you didn't make it in, you were not there early enough. The FC contingent was extremely large (5 rows) this year, so it was a tough one. As was the RX-8 crowd. Sorry to both 17k mile '89 vert, and Vanessa, but we tried our best. On the 4-5 other rides that made it in... I will bet they were there earlier than most.

Again our apologies, but we try our best. Next year we will have additional controls in place in the PRE-STAGE area to make things happen more effeciently.

Thank you... we would love to take it to another venue, but the $$$ to do so are not there. If we had to charge for the privilege it would not be half as large or interesting. Also some of the major backers, including Mazda, would not participate in such a large manner for many reasons. We are considering options, but we would want to keep SS a free open to all event.

A big thanks needs to go out to Bern and all the volunteers in the SoCal Club. If no one noticed they were not at the K-1 event. Why weren't they there... because they were over at Mazda setting up hundreds of cones and barricades and speedbumps required by the Authorities and Taco Bell so that this event could happen. They didn't leave Mazda until well after 10pm and most didn't have the time to properly clean and prep their personal cars. The following day they were all there at 6am to start lining people up for the parking. After that you saw them all day long taking care of issues while everyone else like myself was enjoying the event. After everyone left and went to the hotel they policed up all the trash at Mazda, behind Taco Bell and in the large parking lot. They also picked up all the cones and barricades and the signs that people didn't borrow, and then finally took a break and got something to eat.

I for one am proud to call these guys my friends and owe them a huge debt of gratitude and I think that others should do the same.

Thanks, Bern for all you do! SevenStock 13 was a huge high light of mine and my Dad's year. It was well worth the trip from Missouri. We plan on attending next year and bringing a few others with us.

Hopefully a Saturday evening event that's a bit more structured will help tame the wild guys that close down pools!

Also, thanks MaxPower for the awesome pics!!! I love RotarHeads

I love looking at the pictures and Bern, Andy and the SoCal club have done an excellent job over the years. I look forward to seeing pictures of future events. I hope when I'm done with my 13B-PP FB drag car i can bring it down and then once my REPU is finished with its frame off restomod I'll bring them both down. Keep up the good work and i hope the children grow up and become adults the next time they attend the event.
