It was great. We're going back in a couple hours since we couldn't stand the heat and humidity on Saturday.

best day of my life all i know is that i killed a couple of cones in the renesis but it still was awsome and i didn't get clipped but the best part was driving the mx5s even though it wasn't my first encounter with the speed6 i enjoyed the renesis and the x5 a whole lot more and now im anxious on getting the photos downloaded

Was there from 10 am till about 4pm today.
Had a good time driving everything and was really impressed by the MX5 as well as the Mazdaspeed6.
As a bonus I rocked the second BEST time of the day in the Mazdaspeed6 challange with a 32.076 sec run and when I stepped out of the 6 I gota nice round of applause while wearing my S.Fl RX Club shirt.....
How sweet it was........

Talked to you after that great run. I was working, I think you had the second fastest for the hour though, that is what we show on the screen. The fastest for the day was a 31.3xx IIRC. It was set real early before the cars and ambient temp were real hot by a guy that has autox'd almost every weekend for the last ten years.

Lets see those Tll FB project pics!

Thanks for the info...
As well as the conversation afterwards. Nice to talk to a fellow enthusiast. I saw the list and all I remember was that someone posted a 31.73 for the day or hour. I will probably look into autocrossing as that was defenitly fun. I heard that the guy who posted it got 2 runs in a row as he complained about some cones being down or something to that effect. If I would have known that, I would have asked for another run as there were 3 cones that were down on the track after the large right hand turn in the rear of the course that I had to brake hard for as the guy on the scooter was getting ready to fix them, then the Mazdaspeed 6 lost boost on me after I reaccelerated to drive around the cones. Either way it was definitely a BLAST and I am looking forward to next year...

Hey Outkast,
I had my buddy in the car with me as well. It balanced the car better for quicker times according to Stu.

zoomzoomlive.com is not working for me, like macromedia is messing up.

I was there for about 2 hours and IMO the cars in order of fun to drive were:

1-Miata (still gay though)
2-RX-8 (blindspots FTL)
3-MS6 (don't like clutch play) + the guy on the mic said something about people burned like 5 clutches (and you could smell that stink all over while waiting in line)

We have lost 6 cars for various reasons since the start of the tour. Most are clutches, like four I think, the other two are shift linkage and syncros. The cars have taken the abuse pretty well though. In DC we were ill smelling the clutches get fried on these NEW cars. We started to crack down on people trying to learn to drive a stick in them after about two hours the first day. Stu got in a little trouble for how he was talking about people who can't drive a stick, his thoughts are; "If you are over 18 and can't drive a stick you are still not done with drivers ed., 16 to 18 year olds still might have an excuse, nobody has taken the time to teach you yet".
Watching the Speed 6's take abuse that a normal car won't get in 100k miles is painful to watch for us car guys. But driving one makes me want to buy one for a daily driver. I'll bet the cars are down 25 to 30 HP because of heat soak with the IC on top of the engine and how much the cars sit right after a full throttle burst right before the finish line. I had to take one of the program cars to the local dealer for some cosmetic work(damage in shipping between events), these cars are a blast on the street. I only wish traffic on 826 would have been lighter, I had to get on the brakes hard to merge after the on ramp if you know what I mean...

We were supposed to have Speed 3's for this tour but there is such a shortage of 3's in general, I hear, that we may not get them before the tour is done.

Hey J,
I agree with you on the 6. My buddy that attended with me actually owns a Black Cherry one that he let me drive home (about 30 miles) so that I could feel the difference between the ones that got BEAT on at the event and his which only has 3K miles. I am defenitely SOLD on the 6 and it's performance and maybe investing in one sometime next year. I do want to drive a Mazdaspeed 3 to see how that performs but the all whell drive sold me BIG TIME.

Joe

BTW...
I think there should be some way of testing these drivers that CLAIM they can drive STICK before they are allowed in one of these cars as many of them had that BURNT smell from the CLUTCH GRINDERS that were ragging on them....

Glad you like the picture. One of my jobs this tour is to set up the automatic photo system. Thanks for posting it, its nice to see how they turn out for the public. Some weekends get pretty messed up when I have to shut the system down because of rain.
