I agree. But just as well there is no proof it actually happened. People will always say what they need to say. Nothing against OP I'm sure he is a great guy and not calling him a liar, but it is what it is.

sorry to be off topic.. but i saw that one of you mentioned placing liens and different courses of legal action for situations like this. If a shop screwed me over but is no longer in business (value of the screwing is 2k) what is the best way to pursue that person for my money? If its worth it of course.

So you think those pics are NOT proof enough...
The FC motor was opened up in front of 15+ different people at the meet, I was one of them, and that's what was found. I don't think someone would open a motor...undo all the work ... and put it back together to make him look bad....

I had my own experience with Don Charlie at 1 fraction of what Hurley paid and I will NEVER.... EVER.... do business with him again.... He talks a good game but his actual work is garbage.....

Small Claims Court .....

I think with Small Claims Court you can seek damages from the owner personally, but there are limits, and all it is a judgement which he may elect not to pay back.

Good Luck, most mechanic shops are set up if anything happens, their personal liability is limited. A shop can shut down and seek protection behind the corporation. Usually at this time they transfer all assets such as equipment and tools to their personal property in which you cannot claim. Usually they have nothing in the end but a business on a peice of paper. Bythis time a lawyer loses interest and tosses your case.

For example i know of a famous rotary shop in Virginia who screwed over one of their clients royally. The client spent a lot of money on a lawsuit only to have the said company disappear and then reappear as something else.

there is always two sides to every story so i would be curious to see what the shop owner has to say about this?

10thAEWhiteheat, if you deal with him, you should tell him about this thread so he can give his side of the story, then we can make an educated guess as to who is truely at fault.

Well a small update:

After I posted this Charlie has contacted me via phone a few times, but did not have enough time to talk. I am being patient for the next few days to try and get some sort of communication.

As an fyi, I've talked to my attorneys and up-and-up friends, and their is possible personal liability involved on his behalf as well.

I think I'll post up the pictures of what we saw when Cameron opened up the engine in front of everyone, along with the video of me taping the dissemblance.

Anyone that has crossed my paths can speak to my character of bending over backwards for people even when I didn't know them or like them, and treating others with respect/kindness.

I can easily say this and that and make up all types of nonsense that did not occur, but the fact of the matter is everything is documented, down to the minutes I called him.

Pretty much what I was going to say. One reason I got out of the rotary scene was the amount of trash talking that goes on between all these rotary shops. You never know who can build an engine and who can't by asking them. No matter how good, big or successful the shop is, someone is talking massive $hit about it. I'm not saying Cameron is wrong or lying, but if anyone tells me ABC Shop sucks I take it with a grain of salt.

As gotboost said, Charlie has been at that location with the same name and number for years. That should say something in a fly-by-night scene where shops come and go taking people's money along the way, even big reputable shops (just read some of the posts in this thread).

I've taken all my cars to Charlie and he hasn't done me wrong. Nice guy who does good work and throws in a lot of freebies to boot.

No disrespect to anyone. But when you don't have your vehicle for over 1.5 years, and you start trying to sort out the problems a few months later that occurred from the shop, along with expert witnesses verifying occurrences not only in one, but two vehicles ... things start being seen in a larger light. Yes, using sealer to re-enforce seals may be acceptable, but using it in attempts to cover up a leak caused by improper pinning/torqueing? Note, I did not make accusations in any of my posts about any of his other work. I strictly kept to facts and circumstances relevant to MY situation. I don't know, nor do I care, about his other business practices. Had my check engine light came on, I have the capacity to fix it. Not a problem. We aren't talking about a light, we are talking about time, effort, money, and grief that was expelled to yield a worthless end result.

I'll let this sit here until I talk to Charlie (this evening) and my council.

i also have problems with this shop. charlie from turbo clinic still owes me my brand new 3 gen rims with brand new tires on them.

i made a deal with charlie i gave him a full shell with a bunch of s5 parts inside for some parts and tune in return. i told him to come pick up the shell and i will go later and take off the rims which i was keeping, when i went to pick up my rims he said he had sent the car to orlando for some modification to the chassis. im still waiting on my rims for two years and f**k the tune i only trust a mutual friend Erick to tune my seven.

Well since progress has stagnated quite a bit (i.e. being told he'll meet me in Washington D.C., call me back to talk but then can't talk when he does, etc), I'll be filing with the county by weeks end.

Will keep everyone updated.

Turbo clinic

I have been taking my car to Charlie since 2007. I have had zero issues. He has always been upfront and fair on work and pricing.

What rotary shop in Miami doesn't have any negative stories. I have had rotaries in Miami since I was in high school in 8O's. I can fill pages of rotary mechanic issues I have gone through. As of now Charlie has did ZERO wrong with my car.
