I feel lucky that the FLRX8CLUB doesn't have this problem, at least not yet. So far, someone different has stepped up to "host" each event, though the core group is still doing most of the motivation, thus easing the burdon on everyone and making this pretty easy.
And while Evil is a little exuberant in his defence of the FLRX8CLUB (noting a pattern here? this is meaningful to people), I echo his point that the trouble wasn't only your suggestion to remove the '8' from our name. That was the last straw for some people in a string of events that continues until this morning. I do thank you for the rapid decrease in jabs and I will ask Evil to join me in letting bygones be bygones for the sake of the rotary community. I am glad to see equal effort from south Florida as well.
I would really like to get you guys amped up about a driver's school, though! C'mon! Who's interested???
As far as your generous offer for the shirt, it would mean a lot to me if it were the same as the other members of your club, RX-7 focused, club logo, and all. When we do our shirts (we've just started the discussion, and one thing about a democratic club is that decisions do take longer), I will buy one for you. Perhaps it will be the start of a rotary club joint group to help coordinate and lend support to each other's activities (or at least try to make sure we don't schedule our big events so people have to chose between). As other groups form, they can join in. Sort of like honorary members of each other's club, no?
Oh, and the Grey Poupon jab? C'mon, Preacher. Based on the modifications alone, I'd bet that your group is wealthier, or has wealthier parents, than our group's members. Very few here have chosen or are able to make any serious mods and still cover the monthly payments. The upside, of course, is that service and warranties are still in effect. Give us a few years. My 3rd gen was stock until about 50,000 miles, but it got pretty strong, pretty quickly after that!
Peace.

Everyone is aware that I stress out when I dont have the participation from its members.. simply because it has truly been a One Man Show for the most part.. Kandela and I were talking about that today and he said that he will announce it to everyone at our next get together happening this thursday night April 6th. He knows that everyone should pitch in. Like I mentioned earlier.. Last year I was throwing in the towel soto speak and many members urged me not to give up because I was responsible for organizing the great meets they attended. So I rescinded and got back on the horse. I wish the members would get more involved but sadly they dont.... so what do i do.. just roll with and try to do the best that I can with what I have to work with. I know that many of the members are reading these posts... I have spoken to 4 of them today and they have told me that they have read it but just didnt say anything. Reminds me of living in NY and someone getting mugged and not one person did anything about it but I did and I got shanked.
Jeff I would welcome a shirt from you ... I would wear it.. and i would not feel bad about doing so.. after all its all about working out some peace here right ?
a rotary club joint group to help coordinate and lend support to each other's activities... sure why not.
Most of the guys in the group here are not from wealthy parents. There is a small margin that is under the age of 20 whereas the majority of them are over 25 and some above mid 30's. They are essentially all business owners like Kandela who has a very successful Lawn Care business or some of the other guys that are under 30 years of age that own Gas Stations. Some successful real estate agents and mortgage brokers... and so on... not little rich kids whose source of income and hobby money come from Dear old dad and mommy. The others work hard for their money and have what they have because the worked hard to get there.
Jeff, This will be my last post in all this Soap Opera... I would like for this chapter to come to a close and we can see better days.. what do you say ?

C'mon guys! Preacher can't do this alone. Help him and Kandela make YOUR club a success. Go. Have fun. Pitch in. It's up to you.

We are a group of enthusiasts who love rotary powered vehicles. Let's use that to our advantage. If you need anything from us to help you with your events, just ask and we'll see if we can get there and support you and vice versa. We have alot of stuff going on and we try to keep busy. If you've got something that you think might interest us, let me know. We can work better together than apart. RX-8s are our focus, because it's something new and we want to be on the cutting edge of it's popularity. We've done alot of tech sessions to improve our memberships knowledge on different modifications. You guys are everyone who owns a rotary. Got no issues with that. The first rotary I ever drove was a FB, that's when I got the bug. We all have the same interests, let's do this together and move forward. My screen name on the flrx8club.net site is yellow_ocho. Take care.

I'm extending a hand (I did shake yours at Homestead by the way) to try and resolve all this craziness.

Thank you Raymull and Mantis also for posting.
I want to take this opportunity to formally apologize to Raymull, Mantis, JWitzer and the FLRX8CLUB and some of the members of the RX8 forum whom I have offended with my harsh statements and remarks. I realize that it was stupid and immature to have behaved in such a manner as I did so with your group.
I would like for any and all animosity between the groups to end and my mission is to promote harmony within the groups. I too feel that We can work better together than apart. So if there is any way I may be of assistance with any of your future venues in either South Florida or Central Florida I am here to serve.
Respectfully,
Val 'PREACHER'
