Hey girls, stop your bickering and watch me jack this thread.
Last week I was going about 60 on the highway when all 4 of the lugs on my driver's side rear wheel decided to work themselves out. Luckily the drum assembly just dropped down inside the rim and the wheel stayed under me until I could pull off the road. Good thing it wasn't one of the fronts. I still can't believe it, and in case you can't either, here are some pics:
This is the drum, note that the outer rim of the hub was completely broken off in chunks, and the metal shavings on the casing are from it digging into the rim.
Here's the rim. Though it got shaved up pretty bad, I think it is probably still structurally sound. However I have switched back to the stockers all around for the time being, mainly because they are hub-centric whereas the Rewinds aren't.
I believe several factors contributed to this happening. The wheel cylinder is leaking brake fluid, and perhaps that provided some lubrication to help the lugs work themselves out. Also as stated the Rewinds are not hub-centric, they are lug-centric but hub rings can and will fix that before they go back on my car. I found 3 of the lugs within about 100 yards of each other on the road. God knows when the first one came out but with one gone, the others didn't stand a chance. Despite the name, I was unable to Rewind the day and check that my lugs were tight before I got on the road.
Also if I can get some help (hint, hint) I'd like to ditch the drums and open differential, switching to discs and the LSD before DGRR.

Yeah guys thanks, no damage to the car but I was fit to be tied. I failed to mention that my jack was NOT in the car and I was out in the country with no cell signal. A guy happened to be bailing straw across the highway and had one in his truck. Of course I had to pick up the corner of my car to get his jack under it...and oh yeah it was raining and I was dressed for work. What a lovely fkn day that was! At least it didn't happen the night before, when I was doing 120!
The car is fine, I drove it home that day. I just have poor back braking because of the leaking wheel cylinder. Rather than buying the part to fix that I'd rather go ahead and put in the LSD rear and discs that have been sitting around waiting to be put in for like a year...

Hey Chip, if you don't mind to take charge of planning this event that would be great...
I think one thing we should try to put into all meets is a drive of some sort, even if its just cruising around the city...maybe another owner will see our caravan of RX7s and stop and talk to us....or any scenic roads down ur way we could go enjoy? may not be twisty, but still can be pretty...

Ok, peeps of Chucktown, and all of those who like 7's, I say that all are welcome to the SC Rx7 Club. Just because Nieto left (hopefully some people still remember him) doesnt mean we all have to fight. Yes I know that Chucktown can be boring, and we dont have any hills (damn!) but of all of the meets I ever went to (and it has been a while) all we ever did was talk about how much we liked the cars and how much of a bitch they were to work on. So isnt this what it is all about -
a brotherhood?
broth·er·hood - meaning all those engaged in a particular trade or profession or sharing a common interest or quality
Lets try to start the year out right, and have a good first meet of '08. Anyone is free to call me (843-296-5625) if they have any ideas, but one thing we need to keep as a tradition, or start (not sure if it was continued) is driving over the bridge into Chucktown and crusing down King Street.
And to all who do not know me my name is Landon, and my FD was recently raised from the dead.

Allen the road you are refering to is along the river on the weapons station we can go there and cruise around the scenic parts also. Derek and I will be retuning my beast this weekend and he will have his in town also.
What weekend in February do we want to do this and I'll run it past the wifey. It will be OK just want to give a heads up. We can all meet here and then go cruisin and then come back for a BBQ and Beers...? I'm down for anything lets get some ideas going from the Chucktown Locs!!! Constructive stuff only this thread is getting bogged down already. Chip
And yes Trey you will be at this or I will destroy all leprecauns in the Chucktown area!!!!!!!!

Honestly... I had one of the best times @ Chip's when we all cooked out and had some beers. I like alcohol and hanging w/ friends. That'd be the **** in my book. Anyone else?
