Heh heh heh, he said bra

I'm gonna clear the codes from the ECU tonight (actually I'm gonna stop at Godspeed and see if they have an extra ECU from the FD they were building), and I'm gonna check to make 100% sure the fuel pump is working.

I AM GONNA GO CRAZY IF YOU DONT FIX MELBA SOON. and i know if i am tired of thinking about it, you must be ready to set a match to her.

codes in the ECU shouldnt stop the car from running, but i guess that is easy enough to do.

gotta be timing. we had spark on all 4 wires. it is sparking, it is fueling, it's got air,

so air, fuel, + spark SHOULD = boom

its either a the ECU went bad, or the crank angle sensors have gone bad. In my worthless opinion anyways.

when are you leaving again? want me to bring the crank angle sensors down with me to Range1 this Saturday? in case you weren't paying attention that is near Bragg somewhere.

^Lezbo FTW!!! Too bad though, she's hot. Aria Giovanna, we barely knew ye.

Every time I've brought up timing to Ashraf it's been shot down though, and someone else had told me that too, maybe it was Rich, I don't remember. Anyhoo, they said it's impossible to throw off the timing, but I don't remember the reason they gave. Although in the FSM it says don't mess with the timing cause it's set from the factory, so that tells me it CAN be adjusted. I'll rebuild this bitch with all new parts before I take it to a shop though.

I'm probably gonna leave Sunday Josh, I just have to remember to put in for leave, haven't done that yet, haha. If you wanna bring those crank angle sensors down with you, I'd be more than happy. That looks like quite the job too though. I'm trying to get Eddie (a guy here in town with an FD) to come over Saturday so we can put in his new ECU so I can have his old one, haha. He has a DP to put on too if I have time, I've been trying to get him over here to do that for a long time now.

Ashraf on timing:

"Timing is NOT adjustable - there's nothing to turn/adjust to advance or retard it. Either the computer sees the two CAS sensors or it doesn't. If it doesn't, the engine won't attempt to start since the ECU never knows the engine is spinning (no RPMS) and you wouldn't see the tachometer needle bounce.

Now, what the timing light WOULD help to tell you is if you are getting spark with the plugs in the engine, versus outside the engine. A standard timing light will work fine. Timing is checked with the engine RUNNING and warmed up, so you can't really test if the timing is correct. What you are looking for is some indication that spark is happening when crank the key."

There's a chance that I might start working in Ralieghwood sometime soon. There has been some shuffling in the management ranks at work, and it would appear that I may have my choice of a few different positions to take. One of which would be working in Raleigh, making almost DOUBLE the amount of money I make now.

Even if I don't go there, I'll likely still get a promotion and make some nice cash. The job may suck, but the money...good lord, the money...

As far as I know they will go into non-running cars too, but I could be mistaken. I didn't think there was a little bar that dropped down to block someone from swapping the ECU if the car stopped running but I'll have to check the FSM.

For all I know my stock ECU is bad. And I'm going to need it someday regardless of whether it's running right now or not. Does that work for you?

It's Aria Giovanni. She's not lez-be-friends, only suggested by photos. She's married to John5, former guitarist for Marilyn Manson.

Really, timing CAN'T be adjusted? I think I'd be willing to bet my left ******** that you CAN adjust it via the CAS. How do I know? Hold on, let me crack open my Rotard Bible. Page 1-8, FSM for my car. Ignition timing. "Thou shalt see two marks on the timing pulley. If timing needeth to be adjusted, thou shalt grasp thy CAS and rotate in direction, such that it pleases the Lord. Amen." Well, damn. Unless I don't remember how to read, there it is.

Oh yeah, and unless your car is made of unobtainium and pixie dust, I don't see how the same principle wouldn't apply to your car.

I'm off to Best Buy on Capital to get a laser mouse. (Star Wars mice FTW. No, I'm not serious about Star Wars. Laser mouse yes. Star Wars no.)

Eric, I don't think he meant anything negative by his comment. I think he was just throwing ideas out there kind of like we've all been doing. We love you Eric. Honestly if we didn't care, I don't think we would be suggesting all these different things. We all pretty much want to have your car running. Maybe not as badly as you do, but we would like to see the FD up and running nonetheless.

I was told before that she was lesbo, that's what I'm going off of. I've seen plenty of women on other women and not thought twice about them being lesbo, that's not why I thought that. Lesbo or married, we still can't have her, agreed? LOL

Yeah I know about spinning the CAS, but is that the only way to "adjust timing"? I was helping Victor when he adjusted his, but I didn't link the two together. I've actually thought a couple times about spinning mine to see what would happen, but when I've looked for it I don't think I found it, haha. It's buried back in there, not as easy to get to like the FC, or most modded FCs anyway with the vast chasm in the engine bay.

Yeah sorry about that, I took it the wrong way. I'm also getting just a little tired of having a fun car from which I can't extract the fun. If I was building it from the ground up it would be one thing, but this is a problem that just won't go away.

I checked the wire for the coolant level and it was good, so I'm not sure why the buzzer is going off. Is there something else that will set it off? I also checked the ECU for codes before I went to clear them, to see if there were any new ones, and the codes weren't there anymore, so I guess they got cleared by accident while I was working on other things. I went through the procedure to clear them anyway. I listened for my fuel pump through the filler neck with the key turned to "on", but I couldn't hear it, so I pulled it and hooked it up to the battery, it was good. I guess I should have known that already though because when I was pulling the lines off I forgot it had pressure and it sprayed me in the face, haha. No I wasn't wearing glasses, yes I did wash my eyes out. The fact that it had pressure told me the pump was working, but I figured I'd pull it anyway and make sure. It ALMOST started a couple times, it was so close. At one point I pulled the plugs and the fuse to clean out the chambers again, and the leading plugs were dry as a bone, I don't think I've ever seen that after cranking with no success. The trailing plugs were covered in oil though. That makes me wonder if I really am getting fuel. Although when I was turning it over with the plugs out I could smell fuel pretty well.

I like that cat video Josh, that tortoise was out for blood, haha. I don't think I've ever seen one act like that before, haha.

I like this video too...another RX-7 buddy that's going through ROTC right now sent me this...

http://www.youtube.com/p.swf?video_i...4bp&autoplay=1

Sorry to bring you all down, haha.

As far as I know, the CAS is our "cap and rotor." Seriously, get that timing gun from the shop and at least just SEE how to adjust the timing. Even if it's spot on it doesn't matter; now you know how to do it. I do know, and this is getting outside my realm of knowledge, that you can remove teeth from the CAS. This is something attempted by the hardcore, along with filing certain teeth down. I doubt this is something that you will need to do, but it's something that IS done sometimes.
