If you get the Autozone pads...

I certainly understand money is scarce (BELIEVE me I understand) but put some better pads on it ASAP if you go that route. You can't drive your car fast if you can't stop just as fast... good pads are going to cost around $50 a set.

But, Autozone pads would be better than metal-on-metal

All 4 sets of pads are UBER close to metal-to-metal. Y'all saw my old throwout bearing... you know how I like to get every little bit of use out of a car-part before it craps out on me!

NEwho... yeah, they are 4 lug. Bummer. I'd love to finally do the 5-lug conversion, but I don't have that kind of $$, and I can't just pick some rims until the rest of the car is on its way to perfection. She's far from perfection right now.

Johny, when do I get to see ya? Hell, we talk on here alot, but I can't remember for the LIFE of me what ya look like!

NEwhooo... yeah. 4 lug sucks. My car totally needs a charity fund!

Care to donate to the "Make a 'Rotary Wish' Foundation?"

I really agree with this... They work fine but not as good as I expected them to work. They're maybe a little less grippy than what I had (atleast I've been able to notice in the wet) and produce like 10 times as much brake dust which sucks.

I'm not too worried about brake dust, since my "rims" (gag) are always nasty and never worth actually CLEANING.

I need some bad-*** walmart hubcaps.

Maybe some of those "spinnuhz!"

That's great!. I wanna see your car in one piece; that way i can see where, if anywhere, that i made a mistake on mine. Seriously, though it's just good to know that the car is coming back together and that another FD is being save from oblivion.

RX7driver, sucks about the ticket, but i don't know of any cheap lawyers. If your record is clean you can probably talk to the DA and get it dropped on your own.

Sucks about Steve not having the rear calipers. It would have been an awesome time to do the conversion. I am sure we could probably get a hold of some, but not by this weekend. Unless someone else in the crew has a set, they are willing to donate or sell cheap. for the "help a fellow rotorhead" fund.

get the rx7 if you want AWESOME handling, the 240 seems to be a bit nose heavy i love the 240 as wel, but with the strong rotary base you have here i dont see why not go with a rotor

if you need a place to do the brakes im close to the area just go with some autozones until you get more money for some powerslots or something

AND see guys thats why we need the reffernce So if you havent PM'd me already do it now

The RX-7 is on delay for now I am still waiting on the title from the previous owner, so I don't want to drop the engine in and then have someone come repo the car and say it is theirs so the engine is just sitting there all nice and pretty waiting to go. Went to Autofair last weekend, it was pretty cool. I think I was the only rotary powered vehicle there. I got First place in the Spring Nationals which is the mini Truckin and sport sompact show they do outside. I think it is hilarious when people try and act like they know what they are talking about, I put out a powder coated rotor housing with a rotor in side of it from my old TII engine, and somw kid asked his dad what it was. The dad looked at it and then said "oh, that's part of the transmission.", one guy was looking under the hood and he told his friend that it was a V6, and another guy was talking to me about my nitrous and he said "yeah, it should handle it since these things come with forged pistons and all". I just get a kick out of it.

It all depends on what car I can find now.... A T2 is hard to find, and the one I have been looking at turns out it doesnt run.... So until the owner fixes that, my Dad said we won't get it.....

Unfortunately, yes, my dad has ultimate say in this....

why not get an NA? it will last longer then a turbo will, but then again availabilty becomes an issue

Hey, WannabeFC check out this FC for sale in Birmingham, AL. Put alot of stock in what herblenny says about the car and its owner. I agree with capn about starting with an N/A, less problems, more reliable and has all the power you need to start. Much better gas mileage.

you gotta get you NA rotor wings first before you can step up to turbo. and plus its not all its cracked up to be, you use more gas, you have more parts that can break and you have a lower engine life for an extra 20-30 hp over stock. i think i only bought my turbo was because it was a 10th anniversary. SO i would get an NA and mod it up and get into that thing and know what your doing before you step up to a turbo. and i would actually like a NA again, dont know why but i like higher revs and better gas mileage.

They have me scheduled to work the 23rd. Maybe they will change the schedule for me.

I dunno how much help my dad is going to be this weekend... so I may end up going rotor/brake pad shopping by myself. I need to know what to ask for, so they don't take advantage of me at the store. If I don't know what I am talking about, they will eat me alive, since I am a girl. Normally I don't have a problem, but this is a very unfamiliar territory.

Also, the guys at Firestone said I would have a hard time doing my car's rear rotors/brake pads, but I don't remember why. he said I needed a special tool.

My dad said he had all of that stuff, but he's being worthless to me at the moment. He has plans this weekend, and no time for me. This is why I try to do all my car stuff myself!

If my brakes go completely metal to metal (which it sounds like they are about ready to), I'll be kissing some nasty Nissan or Dodge's rear end! I already have gross Volvo green on her rear... poor girl.

I wish I could do the 5 lug conversion, but I don't think I have that kind of money, since I wouldn't be able to afford new rims and tires. What kind of price range are we talking, if I were to do the 5 lug conversion in the future?

the "special" tool they are talking about is the a little device that allows you to turn the rear piston. unless the FC has some other design.

anyhow, what day do you plan on doing it?

all you need to ask for are the front rotors for a 4 lug Mazda RX7.

correct me if i am wrong fellas, but that means she has the 1 piston calipers? so you would be looking for the pads for a RX7 with one piston calipers.

anyhow, let me know, when you plan on doing it. i was serious with my offer to help out. a brake job won't take more than a couple of hours.

It's been awfully painful for me in the last 3 months, lord have mercy on my poor RX7 soul.....

Sorry about that Andy, was at the mercy of Aspec or should I say Garrett since they ran out of turbos . Car should be done soon though, getting real antsy since my brothers 05 Mustang GT was just built yesterday so he should have it by next week.

Yea, thats right. When you need the "special" tool it means you have the one piston rear calipers. You don't really NEED it but it makes the job a lot easier. I just used one of my tools (some plier) that happened to fit right into it to rotate it back in and it was pretty easy. Bottom line, if the tool costs anything don't get it, but if you can rent it I would do it.
