RX7 T2 Vert is totalled

Well on the way home from rhe sonic meet i was cruising around 70mph. There was a construction zone ahead but i thought nothing of it and began to slow down. Unfortunately the zone was righ after a curving upward part (oakland park southbound on 95)..... as soon as i got over the hill i knew i was fucked. I dropped the car into third ... tried pumping the brakes. I was able to avoid a driver side impact .. but i nailed the other car at around 60 on my passenger side. I instantly put the car on the driver side and slid for about 50feet then the car flipped instantly curshing the windshield and windshield support .... my head grounded into the street for about 200 feet before i managed to figure out that i needed to get it up befoe i lost m head. So i sacrificed my left hand and pulled my head up to tuck it beneath the door line. My face was 3" from the ground at this point .. and I could feel all the gravel and glass kicking up and embedding into my head.

I came to a hault after sliding about 400 feet and hitting the median. My rx7 is totalled, the othefr man is okay, thank god! I suffered from multiple lasserarions and it is a mircale I am still alive as you will all see in the pictures i put up later. I thought the car was going to blow up and only had about a 5" opening to crawl out of (between the ground and the opening in the door). I thought the car was about to blow up so I ripped the seatbelt off and somehow managed to get the door open, even though all 2500 pounds of the car was resting on it.

About 10 of the nicest people everr helped me and made sure I was okay. One guy took his shirt off and held it on my head to make sure I didnt lose much more blood.

The only thing that saved my life was wearing a seatbelt and pulling my head up/tucking it beneath the door line.

Please, if you have a cconvertible, I urge you to buy a functioning roll bar!
I have 5 staples in my head, road rash all over, and a small concussion. I lost about 1.5 pints of blood on the road.

Holy **** dude, It's a good thing you had the presence of mind to duck (a good thing to do in any upside down situation in any car) I'm glad you're alright. How are you doing wound wise, nothing bad and permanent I hope?

I almost bought a 'vert a while back, this was one of the reasons I didn't (I like the nice thick B pillar on my FB). I'd buy the car back from the insurance company, and pull all of the good parts off of it, and either put them on your next RX7 (or sell them if you don't want to) since the insurance company probably won't give you the real value of the car. I'm almost in the same situation with my car now (only nowhere near as serious, and not totaled) person that caused the accident's insurance is not wanting to pay the full amount to fix my car (suspension, steering box, wheels, and bodywork)

Also...
+2 On roll bars!
I need to show this to my friend with the first gen VW Cabrio, and scare him into a roll bar.

Man bro, that's a horrific wreck. I'm glad your OK. Did the windshield trim\visor whack you in the head when the car flipped and it collapsed? Or did your head make contact with the pavement first? A wreck like that probably would have killed me... You sir have just moved rollover protection to the top of my list. It was one of the last few things I needed to do, but now it is the next thing I am doing...

Sorry for your loss with the car.

WOWW ... you're a lucky guy ... so you can't recoup anything from the car ?? ... at least you could pull some of the Sweat Equity out of it and sell some parts to ease your burden ?? ... best of luck to you

Holy **** man! I can't believe you are alive by the look of that car/windshield. I dont see how you were able to keep your head away from the windshield/road.

So uh, explain to us again how it happened that you put the shiny side down? I mean, that looks like a fairly straight/level section of road there.

IN any case I hope you get better soon. I would not let the car go to a junkyard though, buy it back and either part it out or sell it whole to someone who will.
