Old guys with 12As club meeting
You tuned it, so it doesn't run so rich and flames drip out the exhaust?
You keep it in neutral and drift downhill?
You've gone to electric?
Per Ray's experience, it is about to have a sticking apex seal and will need seafoamed soon? Let me drive it stu.

For the rest of the rotary guys: most participants are used to rev limiters. Adrian Wells and I are familiar with the lack of a rev limiter but not many others. An alternative to having them drive your car is to ride in their car, if you are worried. Both Colin and Tim have not let anyone else drive their cars - no one takes offense if you say no. (they may not understand, but most people dont understand the rotary gang anyway :P)
Technically, my FD still has a rev limiter, but I bump it just enough not to hit it.
Nevertheless, I have it so the car runs well within its limits. This weekend's event was a bit chaotic. There were a number of uncontrollable factors which created delays. I was helping with timing and we were getting a bunch of issues, phantom times, and missed trips throughout the day. I'm going to have to blame it on the heat. I've never seen it act up that bad.
Instead, the ARSCCA guys tried to keep everything on schedule despite the problems. There aren't many regions around that can push 200-250 drivers with 4 runs each in one day. Nobody gets paid for this.
I worked two shifts (which is becoming less uncommon) so that there are enough people to run the novice group.
Yes, there could be some improvements. If there's something anyone thinks could be done differently, start a conversation.

*Edit*
Man, I want to run the 7 again

"Looks like I am getting 31MPG on the highway.
You know what that means"
It means you're not so good at math? Stu, how can you be getting 31MPG???
I think Holly figured it out, the 31 MPG is for your Protege on a long highway trip.

No neutral and no drifting, steady 80-85mph, no secondaries.
And You may be right. When I turned around to go back home, it started sounding weird, like a boxer 4 or something

It was awesome, when I filled it up it stopped at 8.8, and I topped it off. It kept ka-chunging and stopping like every .4 gallons. Then it stopped at 9 on the dot, I had to get a picture of it!
I trust Stu explicitly and entirely, but for some reason my scientific skepticism is getting the better of me on this one. We need more and better data, like carefully measured FULL tanks of gas driven till empty, repeat the cycle at least four times (yes that $200 Stu), record all numbers and show the calculations.
Small differences from tank to tank can create the temporary appearance of good (or bad) gas mileage. For example, I can get a couple extra miles per gallon just by topping off the tank a little more than I usually do, squeezing in another gallon or so. When I burn that tank, amazingly I get an extra 20 or 25 miles!
And Tim (Atlanta Tim, not NC Tim) wasn't the problem with Crit's black car some stupid thing that was overlooked? (I'm not being critical here, almost all my car problems are some stupid thing I've overlooked). If so, that's not the car's fault, right?
NC Tim, you still turning 25-26 mpg with that monster carb on there? That is impressive!

Dead ignitor. That probably falls under the car's fault. The broken belt on the test drive I'll lay at the hands of the previous owner.
Tim, there's not many FB driver's that don't drive around with a pocket full of ignitors and know when to use them. A 20 year old car has a right to blow an ignitor now and then. I'm calling it operator error and I just wish I'd been around when Crit decided to unload that thing.
Hey, whose hat is this?

I remember seeing it at Crit's Lake House get together but I have know idea how it got in my car.

Thanks Ray
I will do that next time I am highway only. It really has me baffled! I had to check and recheck, did the calculations on the computer's calculator, phone calculator... filled up the tank the same, etc. Believe me, I want to know if this is what I am really getting or just a fluke.
Until then, I have to figure out why my car sounds like a piston engine
Time for more seafoam!

Have you checked for exhaust leaks? That's what was giving mine that nice mellow exhaust note. Another forum member heard this video and said "it sounds like you have a little exhaust leak there".
Here's what it sounded like, turned out to be some bad joints and a small hole in the muffler.

Just a reminder, Zoom-Fest regular registration ends Friday of next week.
Also Ray, The heat shields are complete and the link for them is in the Group Buy section.
That is all,
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.........Last Time on OGTA..........Jessuz found he was not invisible with 4 tickets in a 10 minute span...........Ray found a hat.....It was his.........Holly wants to seafoam a motor............We saw a pic of Crit when he was not so old...............Crit went on a rant...........Some new guys popped up to post and possibly meet up with the OGTA clan.......They all worked on a math project.........

Billy I hope you are not suggesting we are frivolous! And thanks for the info on Zoom Fest and the heat shields, I'll get my orders in.
Yeah that's too bad about Stu's tickets, hope he's still driving when it all gets sorted out.
As the Rotor Turns. Sheesh.
