I bought a used engine of a friend, and I did a compression test "95,95". So I figure it might be a good Idea to refresh the engine b4 the Microtech goes in. If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself.

rx7theone....... $7000 is alot of money man. I'm glad you finally got you're car straight. I've only met Lopez once, and all I did was buy my fuel filter of him, so I can't really comment. He seemed like a pretty cool guy to me though.

I am just gonan add this inorder to show ppl that do not know alex personally wont get the wrong idea in beleiving that he does not know what he is doing.
I am at his shop alot. And I have seen countless amounts of other rotary tuners from big shops go to alex for parts adn scope out his projects. I don;t know but if you ask me, big fuking shops liek the ones ive seen shouldnt have to go to a lil shop like Alex's for parts or advise and ****, and shouldnt feel threatened by his "grocery Getter". Hey... Why would someone be scared of La Vira, or Boty, or the 1st gen he has....they are just reliable drag cars that barely break down, and make power in the 400 and up range. Not just his personal cars, but dude the street cars that come out of there cant be Fucked with. hmmm. I wanna see h.p numbers liek the ones that come out of that shop....period. If i want power i am willing to wait. I understand it could **** someone off to wait, but were not talking about ricer upgrades here that are bolt on, this is custom fuking work, and the time put in it shows in the end. For the job Alex does, the price is pretty good thats all i can say.

apex seals

"And why did they use cheaper apex seals as opposed to factory mazda seals?"

If you ask for factory seals, Alex puts them. But most of the racing motors he builds use different seals. He makes racing oil seals which are nto factory and hold more power. And I know he dosnt use factory apex seals, im not sure which does he use. Point is that because they arent factory does not mean they are bad, they hold more power. However if a customer pays for factory ones thats wat he gets.

ive had lots of experience working for shops and dealing with customers. the bottom line is these complaints that people have are valid ones. that being said im sure a few are a bit exagerated. on the other hand i know how a lot of these shops work, many places cut corners and do not so honest things. but its really the customers responsability now to do there homework. theres just so many "tuner" shops out there. u really have to do your research to find the right ones. yeah it sucks for the customers but eventually all the sub standard places will be weeded out. and all with be wel with the world.

Another shop not mentioned is
GNS Racing
460nw 68th ave
ocala fl 34482
352 237 7955

we build full chassis race cars
welding and alumium work
all aspects of rotary work in any rotary car
also in the process of buying import-dyne mustang dyno

as regards to all the trash talking i can say carlos lopez is a good place to take your car and he would "school" most if not all the people in the country and P.R. about rotarys. Very very smart.

I don't know about the rest of the people here, but I for one am getting tired of all this crap. This thread was started as a way to inform people of the different shops in FL. Not for it to turn into a personal bitch fest between people.
All this crap needs to be in the good/bad guy section or take it to PMs. But to clutter this thread with B.S. and idle threats is ridiculous and childish.

Try Cartek Tuning in Davie. Its right on State Rd. 84, by 595. Try contacting Damian here on the forums, he works for them. Hes the guy who started the thread "dvls-7".

Anyone hear ever dealt with Cartek Tuning? According to their web site, they seem to specialize in Acura/Honda. I have an FD with an E6K that needs to be tuned.

Whatever website or webpage you saw is old. There is one being done at this time. Either go by or call, ask for Stephan. He'll work with you to get you sorted out.

shops in jacksonville

please please do not go to Isaac he "helped" my friend with a t II well entire drive train and tranny were swapped by Isaac for non turbo parts so he could resell. he did this to a friend of his. someone who was helping him obtain new business. as for Driving Force on Phillips, I used to know Ron, owner. he is phenomonal with rotaries, if he is not to busy and can stay away from the woman when he is working on your car. I have seen him personally tear apart his 1 gen motor in 24 hours, complete rebuild more horsepower and run great at the track, I have also followed him home limping on one housing the other tore to shreds. I have seen him fix what the mexican down the road from him could not get to work a 2gen 2nd version automatic putting in a mazda reman, with lots of little issues. I have also seen him take on show car conversions a honda civic hatch back turn all bumpers, mouldings etc into a 1 piece car paint and all look fabulous, but took much longer than promised, he took on a 240 silvia conversion got almost complete front clip from japan, promised for nopi 03 sept atlanta got car in spring time and could not obtain a wiring harness or fabricate one, all the while claiming he has this awesome 3rd gen, kept in a security storage facility temp control on computers, we went to tallahassee where is kept, he couldn't show me. point is unless you have the time to become his friend first and watch him with your car i would not want to run the risk of getting jacked. oh silvia was not done as of spring 04 , last i knew, courts were threatened by owner of car. i have heard shane of rotary works to be decent to all my .02 have a 2nd car with a rx7 do work yourself, and if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, ask for help from a local 7 owner, not a shop. atkins remans sound mighty nice or mazda reman. just for someone who thinks all shops evil

Ha! when it comes to Rotaries, Dont go with the cheapest. YOU, will get what you pay for. and i would recomend asking for previous work done maybe even check out some previous work the mech has done. Good customers are always willing to flaunt thier good mechanics and bad ones even more. this way you dont go for who cheapest but rather for who is willing to commit to your goals and what you want to do with your car while keeping reliability a priority. any one can say they will rebuild your car for 2500.00 to even 5500.00 given that a complete rebuild kit less Oil rings is going to run you about 1200.00 to 1600.00. the rest is labor and thats where the experience comes in. you need someone that pays attention to deatil when it comes to putting these things together like clearances gaps and tolerances, ETC. when you put all these together you should have a reliable engine bulider that can build you a strong engine.

don't trust any shops period.. imo

they think more of themselves than customers..

whatever saves them money and time..!

THAT's the FINAL Conclusion!!!

Maztech
Tampa, FL

i know a little bit about cars so im not completely brainless on it but ive never owned a rotory engine automobile. Im trying to get as much information as possiable about the car before i get it so i dont have to go look for it later when something happens.
