I believe Tom won something there one year...I don't think he went last year. With all the
7s in Gainesville we could have a pretty good turnout.

I hope to be there. Just for clarification, my car has an L33, not an LS1. The L33 is based on the same architecture, but it is a 5.3L aluminum block motor that Chevy used briefly in the extended cab trucks. Similar in nature, but less displacement and *much* cheaper on the parts market.

L33 is the little brother version of the LS6. I say that in a good way as I think its a very good base and as you said, cheaper. I think you can bolt pretty much anything LS1/6 to it though..right?

I think same heads and cam came with it..but very few trucks had it.

Did you upgrade anything with heads, cam yet?

Yep...an aluminum block 5.3 from a Chevy truck. Per the all-knowing Wikipedia, it only came in the 2005-2007 extended cab pick ups:

L33

The L33 (VIN code "B") is an aluminum block version of the LM7, and was referred to as the Vortec 5300 HO in marketing materials. Power increased by 15 hp (11 kW), to 310 hp (230 kW), over the LM7, and torque was unchanged. It was only available on extended cab 4WD pickup trucks. Only 25% of trucks made in 2005 had the L33 engine.

L33 applications:

* 2005-2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD
* 2005-2007 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD

All of the LSx pieces bolt right on, as does the T56. It's a mostly stock motor, with a car intake rather than the truck intake, a Z06 cam, better valvesprings and long tube headers. No idea what kind of power it's putting down right now.

Thanks. I think the two issues are separate. First, it ate the serpentine belt. As it turns out, the cold air intake ducting was rubbing against it. Eventually it let go.

Then, the engine stumbling returned. The PO mentioned suffering from what he thought was vapor lock due to the fuel line being too close to the exhaust. He relocated the fuel line, but the problem is still present. Not sure that it's vapor lock. The car will run okay, but, get into the gas and it starts to buck and stumble. Eventually, it simply dies. Will turn over but not start. Let it sit for ~20 mins and it starts right up but starts stumbling and dies again.

Ended up calling AAA to get the car towed back to my dad's house, where it's tucked back in the garage. Not sure where to go from here. Any recommendations on a local shop/mechanic that's competent to work on a Mazda/Chevy hybrid?

I'm a firm believer in Holton Automotive off 6th. Knows rotaries, been building and fixing all else for years. I trust him.

And there you have it folks! October 10 it is.

Show was pretty weak last year with little to no vendors and the chick on the flyer was the only decent model there. Better girls in the crowd dressed than the ones they had showing.

Track racing was good though and there were a few FD's from Jax and Orlando. A single turbo MB (seemingly untuned cause it was sloooow) tested me and didn't realize I had the V8... Tested Tom and realized how slow he was...when he found out Tom still had twins.

Anyway, Tom took best Mazda at this show. Far enough in advance to plan so lets get it done.

E- Going to be in town this weekend. Picked up a PFC and Commander...should be here by Friday. I'm thinking Suspension and PFC installation this weekend. =)

Have that trim piece for you also!

If you are really ambitious maybe a dash swap as well...might find that damn trigger box!

Hi Gator! Yep...that was me...I think I was hauling a fender and a bumper around today for a dude from Ocala so it probably looked a bit odd! You have the Red FC, correct? I've spoken to you before...I pulled up next to you one evening in a Black FC Vert probably 6+ Months ago when you were leaving Publix. You have a super clean and nice FC.

Thank you for the compliment...I've only had the FD for a month and each week I try and add something new...which at the moment is all safety related mods.

Hey give that guy a call and if wants to buy a FC I may have one for sale. Don't know what your plans are for this weekend but Eddie and I will probably be working on my car. =)

Of course I had to check in with the obligatory 'locals' thread. Just got 7 #5 : 90 TII vert that's getting reassembled at my shop (off of 42w, behind McDonalds on Archer.) Hopnig to have everything sorted out, soon, to come hang out.

All I think I have left is the exhaust reassembly (need those ever-elusive 10-1.5 exhaust manifold nuts... Any ideas?)

Hit me up. Since I'm right by Archer, most of the time, meeting up wouldn't be an issue, at the shop.

I will be in town this weekend, sat 9/19 and sun 9/20. I should have some time to devote to some wrenching. As always, everyone welcome to come by.

Eddie...don't know if my PFC will be here by Sat but if you are game, the following would be of interest to me:

1) Install shocks/springs
2) Test fit speaker brackets on your car =)
3) If you have any 4 gauge wiring, terminals, and shrink wrap running around I need some grounding wires.
4) Since you are the gauge cluster removal king now...I have an extra cluster I need to test. =)

I'd prefer Saturday...what time is the game? Maybe after? My GF is out of town so you let me know what kind of schedule you have!

i lol when i saw that. to me it is a 4600 SHP 14 stage single spool axial flow turbine engine.
