OFFICIAL Gainesville, FL events thread

a good project since I've never had an FC. Liking FC pics lately that I've been seeing on the web...getting retro in my old age. Can't spend the dough on expensive rotary/turbo set up...cheaper to go LS with my brother's old block. Not looking to win any shows or anything, just have a pos to tool around with. Not running and my brother has 1.5 acres to store it. Anyway...will be a whiles seeing as I don't have time to run up to Middleburg every weekend...but feels good to know its at least there.

Hey guys. I was wondering if you could let me know if there are any smog checks in Florida. In MN there aren't any checks at all so I don't need the emissions system on my FB and I'm curious if I would need it in FL.
I'm looking into moving into the Gainesville area this June for school possibly, might be somewhere else in the state. Enough to gain residency for tuition then would like to get a job in engineering in Miami or somewhere that has something a Mechanical Engineer that only wants to work on engines would be able to handle.
Thanks in advance guys!

June or July, August 1st is the latest date I want to be down there right now.
Will probably attend Santa Fe community college for a year, then will move on to the University of Florida. I'll be joining the Formula SAE team and study Mechanical Engineering.
Part of the reason I like the idea of U of F is actually because of you guys, I saw you have a 70 page thread for your town for 7's. I look forward to the move and the support you guys have down there.

In Gainesville I think there are only a few of us.. I'm thinking Mark, Ben, and I are the only ones's left that have running or soon to be running 7s (or am I missing someone ?) and I'll be leaving by Aug. But I must say the community in Florida is plentiful I think you should be more excited to go to UF for the school and not so much the city
I am excited for U of F, they have a good engineering school. And I need to go south for the cheapness of school, the warm weather will help my aches in the winter (even though I'm only 19), and its cheaper to live down there than up here. Will save myself about $25,000 on just my bachelors degree, not even counting the masters. The way my brain works $25k is a really really nice FD that I could drive all year round instead of 5 months here!

I guess we have a lot to say (even though I just recently became more active on this forum...) but UF is great and deffinatly warm if that's what you're looking for, not sure on the cost of living comparatively to other cities but I think it's resonable. It's funny how you're moving down here while I'll be leaving probably to some super northern state for grad school in August. Not looking forward to only driving my baby for half the year

The northern schools generally.have better scores and blah blah blah, but it is as expensive for me to go to the U of M as it is for anyone else and that's frustrating. I'll be getting a bachelors degree at UF and I want a masters from Berkeley in Cali or another globally ranked school in my program.
