Off Topic....North Carolina...
Actually, NC at one point had more miles of paved road per capita than any other state in the country.
There are some absolutely increadible drives to take if you like touring. But you actually have to search for them first.
But more to the point, Greensboro is only about an hour away from VIR. :-)

Well, many of the interstates and main hwy's are decent, but - for the most part - if it has less than 2 lanes each direction, then it's usually in poor to wretched condition.
NC has it all...country or city living, mountains, coast...I Love it here.
Ona side note, NC has over 78,000 miles of state maintained roads, 2nd in the country behind Texas...Not enough $$ to fix 'em all

I dont know what roads you guys are driving on but the roads around here are in good condition. I am from Raleigh and the roads there are the same quality if not better than were I am now!! =/
the roads up in the mountain end of the state are still doing alright too. I've spent many a sunday picking out a ridge and trying to find a road that winds over it and down the other side. or on the parkway, it is well maintained, no sand/salt on it in the winter and 1 park ranger trying to patrol about 200 miles of it.
