Off Topic....North Carolina...
I was wondering about NC?....I have the chance to move down there, since a friend of mine called. And offered to help me find a house for rent. I need to get away from the Pa. winters, and just a change.
I have never been there. Anything I should know?
It is near salisbury,,,I guess near Greensboro?
Its gotta be better than up here in Pittsburgh, Pa. I need some nice weather, for my daughters allergies, and asthma. And just a better living environment.....Any tips or any input would be great!!....Thanks....

RALEIGH! haha NC is a great place. I used to live in Greensboro. It's a nice place and the weather is nice here. We do get some strange stuff though. It can snow one day and be 60 the next haha but overall I happen to like it here. Lot's of people move here from the north and there is a rotary group in Raleigh that gets together often. Im sure one of them will chime in here to praise NC
I used to live up in PA. Moved down to the Charlotte area around 10 years ago and am now up in the Raleigh area for school. The weather is so much nicer here than it is up in PA. I personally don't like the Greensboro area, but I have never lived there.
i love nc ive lived here foreverand probably always will. i acutally know of a place that will go up for rent in a month if your interested. its in statesvile nc. statesville is a small town about a hour from charolette and winston salem. well pm if you got any ?s robert
thanks for the info, and tips...I appreciate it!!
thanks for the offer on the rental, I do appreciate it very much.... I cannot leave until June, until the kids finish school.
I cannot wait to get out of here....

Your profile has you in Camp Lejeune. Is it safe to assume you are stationed there with the Marines? If that's not why you are here, then what are you doing in NC and where are you from?

TonyPa - Just go ahead and leave your "Winter Wardrobe" in Pa. It stays warmer here longer, so if you are concerned about allergies, etc, we have a lot of pollen that stays around a lot longer and comes back sooner. I noticed your profile has you in Pittsburgh, so probably what you'll want to do is just move away from the city, or find a city that has a lot less smog. That will probably be your best bet for finding a healthier climate. Just my $0.02
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Hope I was able to be of some help.

North Carolina is the armpit of the east coast.
As far as NC is concerned, it's definitely a nice place to live. Everything is close by. You have the mountains, city area(s), farming, and the beach.

My wife and I used them to find a place to live. Granted our current place is kinda crap, but what can you expect for $300 a month. They do have some nicer listings though. I'd suggest looking for something outside of the city like in Summerfield, the air just seems so much cleaner out in the country. As for the weather...well, I'm from Maine so I think the summers are hellish. Winter is decent though. Anyway, good luck.

Hey,
Just found this on another site. Here's the post:
Scranton, Pa., is the worst city in the U.S. for asthma, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
The foundation has released its “2006 Asthma Capitals” list. The annual list names the 100 U.S. cities the foundation considers to be the nation’s most challenging places to live for people with asthma.
Before you read the full list, check out the standards used in formulating the list.
“Researchers developing this year’s rankings looked at 12 factors from three broad categories -- prevalence, risk, and medical factors,” states a foundation news release.
“All factors are weighted differently but the most important ones are the risk factors, which included annual pollution and ozone levels, pollen counts, public smoking bans, and more.”
Many cities on the list showed an above-average use of “rescue medications,” indicating that asthma patients weren’t properly managing their asthma, the news release notes.

NC has cities just like anywhere else. or we have great country. Winters are mild with lows being in the 20's and maybe two snows each year. I-40 runs through the state so going west is easy. 77 and 95 for the up and down. From greensboro the coast or the mountains are 3 hours(ish) Flordia is near by and less then a days drive.
Unemployment is a bit high currently, and Meth is all the rage.
What do you like to do and we can tell you if it is available here.

Believe me, finding "fun" roads around here isn't too much of a problem. However, finding "fun" roads that are well maintained is a different story. If they were better maintained, then our "fun" roads would be a lot funner!
