North Georgia Mountain Run- Dec 13th @ 11 in Dahlonega
North Georgia Mountain Run- Dec 13th
I'm about to completely strip my FC and redo everything, so I'd like to have one last run with the current setup and to tell the motor good bye
I know it's short notice, and it won’t be the best weather, but I figure if anyone else wants to go for a little cruise with me that'd be cool. So,
-When: December 13th (Sunday) at 11 AM- 3 PM. Not too long, but a lot of fun. If the plans say it will rain, then this is canceled.
-Where to Meet: Meet at the Home Depot at Hwy 60 and GA 400, 5 miles East of Dahlonega square. It's right at the end of 400, at the top left of the intersection- very easy to find.
-Where were going:

If the weather turns bad while we’re up here, we can go back through Turner’s corner after ‘C’ and cut the run in half. To ensure your confidence, I’ve never driven from Turner’s Corner up through ‘D’ ‘E’ and ‘F’
But it shouldn’t matter since we’d be driving semi-sanely on these public roads with Christmas right around the corner, right?
-Food/ Gas: We can stop in Dahlonega before the run. It won’t be Cracker Barrel or anything, but there’s a DQ, Subway, Chick-f-lay, Taco Bell, Zaxby’s, McDonald’s, Captain D’s, whatever suits your fancy. There’s little hole in the wall places along the way of course, and a few places to top off, too.
Not really sure what else I need to list. The times an estimation. And there will be plenty of places to stop for some pictures.
So there it is, let me know if you’re interested in going. Hopefully a couple people will show up. It doesn’t matter what you drive as long as it’s not some inexpensive mid 90’s family sedan or a Honda

My other real question about mountain runs is the pace. I've driven my car. It's rotary, runs every day, but isn't as much fun as the truck. If folks are gonna blast up mountain roads at well over the speed limit, the REPU won't keep up and I'll hold up anyone behind me. Folks may even claim that nobody will be speeding, but I'm sure that's why folks go - I don't want my slow-*** truck to ruin it for anyone else.

. Of course once you're driving up there people want to push it a little, and I know you wouldn't want that with the truck. But I don't plan to get stupid or anything, just a spirited drive. What about the SE? Do you DD it or the REPU? If you don't drive it much, I bet it would love to see the mountains
Sweet.
So you're discriminatory as to what kind of cars can come? That's a little assholeish.
Crit, I agree with you. Your truck might not be as nimble as some of the other vehicles going, but myself personally does not want to deal with people getting a bit too giddy and driving a lot harder and faster than I am willing to go, seeing as I'm not an idiot.
These are indeed public roads in a very, very uncontrolled environment. Everyone needs to be safe and use their head before using their right foot.
That is all.

I'll loosen up a bit with that- no Honda's unless it's an S2K
Good deal, I'll look forward to seeing either the Lotus or FB.

No clue. I tracked it from school to the mid-point from Porter Springs and Suches, and it was like 15 mins and 10 miles, but I was driving the FC fairly hard. So to guesstimate and using a redneck estimating system, the complete run would be 4 hours long, including time to stop and eat before the meet, a few stops along the way to take pictures/ check the cars/ get gas/ whatever, and maybe 70 miles? I'm guessing, and I never wrote it down when Chris, Jeff, and Alan and I did one half of it.
That North Carolina mtn run we did was awesome.

Here's a few pics from that (since I don't have a myspace...):

Remind me to not wear some skinny guy shirt that makes me look like a fat *** next time.
