NOPI NATIONALS 2006 (Sept 15-17): Hotel and Show info for our RX7/Supra/Viper group!

EVERYONE feel free to join our 'SpeedForSale.com Group' at the '2006 NOPI Nationals' event as we welcome 'Saleen Inc.' and their yellow S7 (pic below) they are bringing with our group! This event is held at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and is the largest import car show in the country. In attendance there will be television stations (ESPN, SPEED, TunerVision, etc), top tuner shops/cars, models, magazines finding feature cars, and concerts by Skid Row and Ludacris (if you are into that stuff ) Our group always has a great time (especially at the hotel/dinners at night), and it's always great to see the out-of-town people that you only get to see each year at this event!

The Meyers brothers from NOPI gave me first pick of where our group wanted to be located this year, and we have the best spot in the show reserved for us - the entire fenceline between the 2 gates in the FEATURED section and 2 rows deep. Everyone registered in our group gets free food and drink, not to mention shade from the sun under our 3-5 tents that we'll have set up along the fence!
We've done this the past five years and had a nice turnout of Supras, RX7, 300ZX, and a few Vipers, and other sports cars. If you are staying with our group at the hotel or show, please feel free to post up here saying so.
BELOW IS INFORMATION ON HOW TO JOIN OUR GROUP AT THE SHOW & HOTEL!

NOPI SHOW:
The show is Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17. If you are entering your car in the NOPI Nationals show and want to join our group, do the following when registering:
1. Go to the registration form here--> http://register.nopi.com/dsp_nncarregistration.cfm (if that link doesn't work, try www.NopiNationals.com )
2. select 'SpeedForSale.com' as your CLUB NAME from the drop down list
3. choose the FEATURED parking section
You can get a spot for your car in the show and TWO passes for $85. But, if you just buy one ticket for yourself without entering a car it's $55.
You are better off getting a spot in the show for $85, then get someone to split the $85 with you. You'll have your car in the show which is nice (less walking, drink cooler, music, etc) and pay LESS than if you didn't enter your car.

HOTEL:
Our hotel rooms are reserved from Friday, September 15 until Sunday, September 17. We have a block of 25 rooms reserved for our group at a nice 'Quality Inn & Suites' that some of the NASCAR teams stay at (info here: http://www.choicehotels.com/ires/en-...ult=1&nchild=0 ) You can reserve your room for only $89/night by calling 770-957-5291 and telling them that you are staying with the "SpeedForSale group" and if you have any problems ask to speak with Beverly or Pam, as they are very aware of this group coming. Also, I can get us more rooms if needed. This is the same nice hotel we stayed in for the 2004 event. Our hotel from last year doubled their rates, so we chose not to stay there this year.
Each person staying at the hotel gets a FREE hot breakfast each morning (eggs, etc) and one free cocktail drink each day at the hotel's own lounge/restaraunt/bar INSIDE the hotel which will be nice. It also has wireless/wired internet access, a pool, an exercise room, and more. Also, the hotel is located directly beside the interstate on-ramps (which is good news for those of you who want to 'play.')
We will also be hosting a dinner at the hotel restaraunt/lounge Friday and Saturday night at 8pm, so come join us even if you aren't staying at the hotel!

Last year, both of our groups ('SpeedForSale.com group' and '300zxClub.com group') combined would have won 1st place in participation at the show, but since the groups were separated we got 2nd and 10th. Come out and join us so we can get 1st place this year! The cash prize will help pay for bigger/better payouts and prizes at future SupraShootout.com events, and also helps pay for the free food/water/door prizes we give out at the NOPI show!
If any of you have any questions concerning the group's EVENT or HOTEL info, please feel free to contact me ( Blackwell@SpeedForSale.com , AIM- JeremyJBlackwell, phone 770-777-4774, or PM here at the forums.)

Always look foward to this event and meeting/seeing everyone at the show. It is always one of the best events every year. If you are coming to any event this year, make it Nopi in Atlanta, and I hope to see everyone there.

If anyone wants to go down a couple days early just let me know. I will probably head down on Weds or Thurs myself. Hopefully a lot of the rotary guys will stay with us at the hotel this year. Look forward to meeting everyone.

The Saleen rep with the S7 and Jack with his supercharged Viper will be there on Wednesday night, and I'll be there on Thursday night more than likely.

i'm probably going again to the show, but I gotta figure out if going with this group would be viable

I don't remember it being $55 to get in last year. It was like 30 dollars for one day, and IMO there isn't much point in going for more than 1 day

Sorry for the confusion, $55 is for admittance for BOTH days...a ticket for one day is less expensive.

There is plenty of paved parking for the show, it's not like we have the only paved spot. Also, if you think your 'car club' is going to have the most members in attendance, good for you, maybe you will!

For those of you who are either one extreme (live for car shows) or the other extreme (hate car shows and only love racing), please note the following about our participation in this event/show:
For me, this event is about seeing old friends from out of town I haven't seen since the previous year's NOPI event, as well as meeting new people and names I know from the web. I don't care for car shows, I'd much rather be in a dragstrip/road course event. This is the only car show specific event I go to each year, and is the only car show specific event I've been to in the last 6 years or so if I remember correctly. Winning a participation prize is not a top priority for us, it just a bonus to help pay for other events that we host throughout the year (including an RX7 specific 3-day road course/quarter mile strip/dyno event that we're hosting next year here in the Atlanta area), not to mention the free food/water/door prizes we give out at the show to our group members and friends.
Remember, we are just a big group of friends that are into sports cars, not a tight-knit 'club' that is into the 'import lifestyle'. Hanging out with old friends and meeting new faces makes the event all worth it, not some prize...but hey if we win any prize then that's just icing on the cake of a fun weekend!

I'm already registered. I registered under your affilation, however, I may or may not be parking with you. If I have a better spot with my other venue, then I won't be, but just in case this falls through, I will be more than happy to be apart of your group. However, last year when I parked with all the 7's, everyone kinda looked away when I pull up, and no came to talk to me except a young kid with a red FC that was really trying. Yeah, my car is older than most of those that will be there, but is really respectable and where parts are more plentiful the newer 7's, I had to make most of mine, expecially for the turbo setup. But all in all, the pavement is what happening.

I just got an email that our SpeedForSale.com group is mentioned on the flyer for the show (underneath the S7 in the picture below.)

We currently have the 5th most group entries/registrations of the show...looks like we're going to have a nice turnout!

I have reserved two rooms for my group to be arriving on the 15th. We already have our reservations for the show as well. I need to get with my sponsor now, for he may get upset. But I want to be with an high exposure group. My partner may be interested in splitting his room with someone(s). Hit me back if your interested.

Vic

ANY car or street bike can join our group, we're just trying to keep it to 'sports oriented' cars if possible (RX7/RX8, all MazdaSpeed turbo cars, Supra, etc) so our group doesn't get over-run with riced out cars that are all about neons/body kits/bling that run 17's in the 1/4 mile. There will be enough of those at the show anyway

Either way it's not a big deal, we're not 'elitist' and don't think our group is special or anything like that. If someone with a 'bass-boat metallic' painted Geo Metro with a primered body kit and flashing neons joined our group, that's fine and they would not be asked to leave or anything like that. We are just simply trying to keep our group consisting of cars that are oriented toward our company's main theme: SPEED! Whether it's a $500,000 S7 or a $1500 DSM turbo, it's welcome as long as it's sports oriented!

So in short, YES you can join our group! See you there!

Probably not. It's $220 minimum for basic electrical hookup at the show. But, we are bringing in a bed camper on a turbo diesel truck that will have a generator and you can use some of that electricity if you like (as long as extra recepticles are open.)
