oh man...how come every time someone wants a body of a 7, its automatically assumed they want to do a V8 swap? someone hears "v8 swap" and the whole piston vs rotary arguement begins ALL over again for like the...i don't even know how many times!!! I swear, some people go through threads do a search for "v8" or "swap" or "piston" just so they can start the sh*t up again...
anyway, matt, what part of NC are you in? and what is ur $$ idea on a shell or car?

i really just rather make a fast rotory before i go back to v8s. i been willing to put some serise money into one for awhile. my goal is to make a 450+hp car. so i can do some damage to mustangs and other v8s. but it seems to me north and south carolina is a good place to find a 3rd gen roller. i will be in north can south carolina for the summer hopefully i am here visting my birth family. Yeah i am adopdted. But if anyone knows of a good place to find a body of a 3rd generation i would greatfull to hear.

well, bro, I'm sure you can get 450+hp out of a rotary, but be prepared to spend some bank. Then, after you squeeze 450 horses out of 1.3 liters of motor, be prepared to spend some more bank 10,000 miles later, when it pops.
Don't get me wrong, I've seen S4 NA motors go for miles and miles, but once you modding it and cramming air in it, apex seals start shooting out.
I know what rotaries can do; I like rotaries; I was at a Steve Kan session the other day. I saw some good #s. But, from all the cars there, I didn't see any numbers that matched the hp/tq of a stock LSx. Great thing about LS motors is, you spend $1500 on a head and cam package, and you'll add 100hp that's good for 100,000 miles. Or, spend $400 on the cam and cut the heads yourself. If you screw them up, buy a used set from ebay for $100.
Not trying to start anything, but if you're wanting to see what you can do with a rotary (and, assuming you want to keep it half way dependable), you might want to shoot for 350hp.

A built rotary motor that can suport 450hp will run you about 25K thats with a block and everything that it need to make that kind of power. I am not saying its imposible to do its just wery costly.
