SC In need of help 12A

I'm in need of help either a new motor or someone to tell me what in the heck is going on with mine.

I went over some railroad tracks and heard some slapping. I thought I blew a tire. Got out checked the tires and it's not that.

Guy stopped to help me out told me it was good the motor did not seize but I am in desperate need of engine work. Not sure what happened but it's a slapping noise.

I need help either with fixing it and or a used motor. This has been stressful.

HELP Please.

Theresa

The car will fire up and run but a guy that stopped to assist me when I broke down told me to shut it down immediately that since the motor was not seized that I should consider myself luckily it will fire up but when it does it's l like something is hitting inside the motor???

Have you checked to see if your exhaust is still intact? A blown rotary sounds more like a weed eater on crack and will run, but run like **** and vibrate like mad. Also check for any broken mounts for your accessories.

These are just general statements/opinions, ive got no real 12A experience, only EFI 13b's.

I don't know how much you know about rotaries or cars in general... but the first thing I would check would be the belts. I'm guessing that guy that helped you doesn't know anything about rotary motors, and probably thought that you snapped a timing belt or something (a part your motor doesn't even have). Check all the belts on the front of the engine and make sure none are broken or extremely loose. Don't be afraid to start up the car and let it run. Walk around the front of the car, look underneath, and try your best to determine just where the noise is coming from.

I agree with FRE on the broken mounts, as that seems a more probable thing to happen on railroad tracks. If the motor seems to vibrate and jolt in the engine bay more than usual, that's a good clue there. Also, it could be a simple broken exhaust mount or even an exhaust hanger that slipped out, causing the exhaust to hit up against the body or a heat shield.

Most of all, don't panic. It's probably something simple. Do your best to find what specific area the noise is coming from and get back to us with more info. And if you can get someone knowledgeable about rotaries to swing by and look at it, by all means do so.

Found a leak

Found a 3 bolt plate that is on the side of the engine (passenger side) (exhaust) that air is coming through not sure as to what it is any ideas??? It seems as if a gasket was blown or something? But not sure.

3 bolt plate? I don't know of anything like that. The things that come to my mind are the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, and side inspection plate. The side inspection plate is 2 bolts, 12mm IIRC, and it lets you look into the transmission clutch/flywheel area.

Air Control Valve block off plate? It has three bolts, but if her car is stock she shouldn't have any block off plates. Do 12A's even have ACV's? My car has a RB manifold.

Take some pictures of what you are talking about.
