The problem with a sticky is that people aren't going to notice that. Isn't the whole point of spotted threads to get the attention of the owner? I think it's better to have the car and location visible in the subject of a thread.
Ya, the sticky idea is really dumb to me because is anyone here going to honestly check that sticky frequently to see if anyone has spotted them lately?
I didn't think so.

this thread says I already voted, when in fact I didn't . then I tried to vote, so I don't know if it registered or not. I find it hard to believe that it is that important to "spot" a car. I live in central Florida, on east coast in a county with over 500,000 people, and hang out with my bro's in Orlando area with over 2-3million in surrounding area. I see very few 7's and when I do they are usually going the other way. I am sure, the majority of "public" has access to internet and could research their own interests.
David88vert says the forum does not fill up that fast with these posts, look at Directfreaks post and look at the forum right now. Sorry, but that is just not necessary or informational. Yes, I do realize there are others guilty of posting inane material, but the moderators are busy enough without this too. Someone said there is specific site on evo forum, that would be a better place or the lounge, where this has as much value imo as that fodder. Harsh or not I vote

If you start deleting these threads of "spotted..." you might as well start deleting threads in the lounge.
This forum is a way for all of us to communicate. I agree with David88vert, those spotted threads are not that numerous, disappear relatively quickly, and it is the best way for us to meet up and find new members. I meet people all the time that don't even know about the RX7club. I owned a 1st Gen for over a year and a half and never knew how useful an online forum could be. How does the spotted thread contact the owner? Sometimes it doesn't but it may keep somebody else on this forum aware when they meet up with that owner.
Probably one of the best complements an owner can get is from someone that says" I saw your car the other day..." Owners of 7's and other rotaries are proud of the vehicles we maintain and drive around. Every time I see a 7, I connect with those people just knowing the heartache of ownership, the thrill of having the world’s most unique engine.
I did a search on "spotted" threads across the entire forum, not just SE section, and I'll tell you the first page went back over two months in all sections of the forum. Most only have two or three post.
If I happened to read that someone spotted my car driving around I'd contact that person, probably hang out on a Saturday afternoon, grab a bite to eat, etc.
This forum was created because of similar interest in automobiles and to share information. Most of the people who post those threads are new to the forum and just trying to hook up with others.
Deleting these threads is just censorship, the threads hurt no one and waste no ones time. I've recently gotten really irritated by all the closed threads and moved threads. If someone closed my original "thinking about buying..." thread I probably would not be on the forum any more.
Leave the threads alone. I've never read any one complaining about them before. Personally I think that some post in other threads that I've read in the SE section that get off the subject of the original poster should be deleted.
Wow, I did not expect to get so worked up about this simple little voting thread but if you start deleting the threads in this section then all the spotted threads in all sub-forums should be deleted as well.

I agree with David, let them be. Although I'm sure you didn't list all of them, but you only listed 9 and stated that was in a months time...big deal. If it's not in my area, I do like David and skip past it. I'd rather have those spotted posts than the miami pissing matches we were having a few months ago.

Spotted -
worthless threads that are making this forum even more boring and congested
imagine you do a search for Rotary Extreme headlighs, and this comes up :
"Spotted - some RX-7 with rotary extreme headlights. He was doing absolutely nothing and I have no clue who it was, but I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, as I wonder who this mystery person is"

So are we talking about deleting the spotted posts and also any of the future miami / Fla RX club bitching posts as well? I'd rather not have the dipshits that were posting earlier (deleting that crap as it happens), making the SE section a laughing stock, than worry about "Hey I saw a red FD on I-75 in Atlanta." If that's what it takes, then I'm all for it.

those threads remind me of some internet stalker. seriously who the **** cares if you saw another 7, what makes you think that person wants to talk to you. it's like those 30 year old guys on myspace that prey on 17 year old high schoool girls.
meh.. lock em after a few days. if there's a meet, just post it on the forum.

here is a "worthless" spotted thread, that turned into a 3+ page thread with valuable posts/correspondence to its region. I do not see why these need to be deleted. Its a forum, its supposed to have these things called 'theads,' where people post stuff..
i can see why spotted threads would be deleted in the tech sections, but this is called a REGIONAL forum for a reason

You have been warned Thomasw3. I don't know who changed Preacher's name to Navdreg. But either way, you cannot keep post-whoring and bashing another forum member in this thread.
