What is it with all the FB/FC/FD "spotted" on so-and-so road Threads?
There seem to be alot of them lately.
Maybe it's me, but I don't understand the significance of starting a whole
new thread just to state you saw an RX-7.
I don't think RX-7's are that rare, that they merit a useless post.
So my question is:
Should I delete these threads immediately?
Should I lock them after a couple of days?
Leave them alone?

Make a sticky "Spotted RX-7" thread... ? Wait, call it "I thought I saw a putty cat... I did, I did, I did see a putty cat!"
I just pass by 'em, seems kinda pointless to me to post it unless it was one of the following:
A: Being driven by a hot chick...
B: Uber elite car, driven by a hot chick...

I think for the most part the persons that start these threads may be trying to reach out to that person. Perhaps to get their attention and possibly hook up for a meet. Or to let them know that there is a meet somewhere that they can attend.
I dont think too many people are aware that this forum exists. In 2003 when i bought my vert I didnt know about an RX7 forum and if it wasnt for Phil I still would not have known.
Last week I saw a black vert with spoilers down on US 1 in Perrine and wondered if anyone knew about it.. my intent was to get in contact with the owner.
I say leave them alone... but Turbo II's idea of a sticky entitled : "Spotted RX-7" may be a good option.
It may just gain someone's interest and conversation can arise from it.. a meeting may happen... maybe a meet of rotorheads and the community grows.

i vote for a sticky.
Around here, they aren't really all that common. And, i'll have you know that i met with some other RX-7 owners through a spotted thread i had started. Those people eventually became my roomies! Hi Minda and Lisa! I say definitely make a sticky, that way they don't clutter up the forum, but it is still there for those who are looking to meet up with other owners.

STICKY STICKY STICK!!! i've met other owners thru the "spotted" threads...personally i think i see another 7 (mostly FCs) maybe once a month (well a car i dont know)...and FDs are even more rare in my area...so i like to see what's around and what other people happen to see. (like my brother told me he saw 2 FDs driving on a Highway around asheville a while back)

I like the spotted threads... it's a good way to meet new owners. I don't always have time to U-turn in the middle of the road and chase them down like dogs. And I don't always carry "RX7Club KNOWS about YOU!" cards with me either. I think the threads should stick around for a week or so. If no one cares about them then they'll get knocked down the line pretty quickly anyway.

I say DELETE !!!
What makes people think that those owners are actually reading these boards????
If you want to meet them to strike up conversation or inform them of this site then CHASE them down and introduce yourself INSTEAD of posting on this site....
Thanks just my OWN OPINION....

Does it really matter if people post a thread like that? If it says "Spotted in Ft Lauderdale", and I am in Atlanta, I don't look at it - I skip right over it. It's not like the page is filling up so fast with threads that it pushes more relevant posts to the second page.
I just don't see why you would waste your time locking or deleting them. They seem pretty harmless to me, and don't cause an issue.

EXACTLY! thank you! if anyone would ask for pics, id be happy to. i recently well a year or two ago saw the spotted stick on evom.net (i do drive a car that gets good mpg too) and it helped reached out to local members, whether its to tell them about this sight or get help on working on the car. if you delete all these "crap" threads, then you're basically the definition of a hater, or at least someone that doesn't want to promote rx7s. save it.

In my opinion deleting, locking, or stickying the thread is a terrible idea.
This forum is the only medium we have to track down local RX-7s. If you do any of the above to those threads, then we will be reduced to chasing these people down the road and stopping just so we can talk to them. Nobody looks at them if they aren't about their own area or color/model of their 7. I think doing anything but leaving them be is just a little bit **** and whiney.
There's FAR bigger problems in this section than those threads.
