When I was in the ETN Knoxville Z Car Club (not to be confused with the SMZ Club) we used to do a Dragon Run every month as our monthly meet after eating at Hooters in Alcoa. Actually we would drive to the store on the left when you get into NC, and turn around...pretty good drive for a monthly meet but not the total length - then again the roads are better on the TN side anyway. Sometimes as few as only 5 or 6 cars went, and other times there were many...just an idea to throw out there.

Thanks man, I think it looks better in person then you see it on the internet. I got a lot of crap over the net, but in person all I have heard is good remarks.

Sounds like it was a great time! I would have liked to attend but had some previous plans, at least I got to go to the mountains and try out some nice roads, though nothing like Deal's!

This was a GREAT get together. I had a blast and didnt even have a car haha. You couldnt ask for better atmosphere, scenery, or weather. I enjoyed it so much I think I'm going to go back later this year for a little mini vacation.
Since I didnt have a car there I was a passenger most of the time, this allowed me to video a LOT of the event. I have a full hour of tape. I've given it to Herblenny to go thru but I'm sure it will take a long time for him to make it into something people can actually download. I think I have video of every car there, in addition to some of the gap and also the Skyway (not everyone did the Skyway since it was Sunday). The Skyway is breathtaking, it starts at about 2200 feet, goes up to 5600 feet, then back down to 900 feet. Its absolutly ridiculous and is worth the drive just for the scenery.
Phillip, THANK YOU for spending the massive amount of time it took to make this happen, you did an outstanding job!!!
It was nice meeting everyone!!!

What an amazing event! It was worth every one of the 700 miles each way that I drove! COUNT ME IN FOR NEXT YEAR!!!! And I agree- why not have another run in the fall? I would come down again! The weather could not have been better, and Phil and MRCCAL did a fantastic job of organizing this event! THANK YOU!
It was great finally getting to meet all of you in person- I hope to see more of you all and keep in touch.
Running the gap was undescribably fun and addictive! I kept going back for a total of 7 runs, and given more time, wouldn't have stopped there.
I look forward to the coming DVD...keep us posted! x 1000!

You know, the fall is really when the Smoky Mtns. are at their best. Anytime in October is good. You guys should check out Pigeon Forge TN & Gatlinburg TN next time you come this way too. Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg is just a really neat place. Also, there is a casino in Cherokee, NC. All of this stuff is within an hour of Deals Gap. Wish I could have made it but my seven really wasn't ready for the drive just yet.

Hey SexyRx. nice run through the gap. That was the first time I have ever pushed that FD since I bought it. I wasn't going to get away from you was I? It was fun though. I want a rematch next time.(rolling up sleeves for next trick) Hopefully next time I'll be a little quieter.

I had a great time. Thanks again to Phil and all of you who spent a lot of time organizing the event. Hopefully next time I'll feel comfortable driving my car up there so I can get in on the driving action.

Thank you all for coming out!! I really mean that!!
I'm also glad that everyone loved being up there. When me, Agentspeed, HDP, and Alucard-7 was there, we had a blast and was really excited about having everyone there for April.
To be honest, I was bit nervous about it and didn't get that much sleep. Also, I've only made one run thru the gap.
I'm all for another get together in Oct. I perfer not to be part of the RX8 group. I hate to say that, but since no support was given by any (except the local 8 owners from the MRCCAL) and also it costs $50. I'm certain we could still get a discount from Fontana Village and we could all pile into few cabins. We'll also cater food from Sweetwater and cook a little in the cabins.
Like I said before, If you are interested in possible fall gathering or Next april gathering, please send your name, SN (which forum), Year car, age, model, etc to:
dealsgap@gmail.com
I'll update everyone with mass emails.
Once again, Thank you for coming out!

this is what $50 is for (from the RX8 forum):
(A) Registration Fee will be $50.00. This fee will include a catered banquet on Saturday September 10, 2005, a door prize ticket (see last years prize list), a T-Shirt, an RX-8 BOTD certificate, and access to the discounted lodging rates at Fontana Village.

Gotta love the sponsors! Thanks to all of 'em for making this event more affordable. I know where my money will go first when shopping for parts and accessories.
