Mazda RBQ: Aug 12th 2006 at VIR

We are working to make this bigger and better than ever before.

Details on fees are still being hammered out. There will be food, contests and prizes. Also spectacular SCCA racing at one of the countires finest venues: Virginia International Raceway.

Come, have a great time, and make this gathering grow into a premier event.

All Mazdas are eligible to compete in the car show. We will have several categories - Miata, RX-7, RX-8 and Mazda Sedan at a minimum. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Please register in advance.
Event Schedule

* Official schedule - not yet released by SCCA
* 8am-Lunch - track
* Lunch: Parade laps
* Afternoon: Qualifying
* 6pm: MSCCNC RBQ

Prizes

* Just like last year, we will have prizes to be raffled off and awarded to winners of the car show
* Mazda "Zoom-zoom" gear
* Langka paint restoration

Keep and eye on the site and I'll of course update the thread.

This was really a great event and i had a great time last year. I hope we can get a few more FDs there this year so you guys come on out! Plus it would be a great opportunity to meet some of the local forum members.

Anyone have any pics from last year's event that they can post? I thought i had some but looks like i don't...

From the MSCCNC web site:

http://www.fd3stech.com/gallery/album31

Mainly pics of the cars of the people there, plus a few shots of Uftring's Spec-7 after it got tangled up with a couple Miata's on the track. A little bodywork with a 2x4 and some wrenching on the steering rod end and it was back on the track the next morning.

Come show off your car in the car show! It's pretty laid back...a just for fun kinda thing, but it'll be great to see other FD/FC/FBs in the area (even if i am biased towards the FDs ). So wash up your baby and come on out!

Bump for a really great event.

The cost for the RBQ is less than the cost of the event admissions ticket at the gate. So effectively you are getting in for free!

Hope to see you there,

I am trying to organize a caravan up to this event from the Atlanta area. Anyone interested in driving up Friday afterwork, leaving around 4PM and staying Saturday night/

Thanks Johny. I'm looking forward to seeing you and some of the other rotorheads from NC and mid-atlantic that I haven't seen in a while too.

Are there any ocommodations suggested for out of towners, for this event? When we used to go up to VIR, we used to stay at HoJo's on top of the hill. I looked on the event site and didn't see any suggestions.

Holly, what route would you be taking to get to VIR, if you are doing 75 > 40 > 81, then consider me a probable attendee.

Heading up I-85 North through SC and into NC, just past Charlotte, then off onto a state route (I think it is 29), then straight up into Danville, VA.

So are any of you NC Rotorheads staying overnight, or just heading up there Saturday morning and leaving Saturday evening?

Hey Holly, The lodge at VIR still has rooms available. (434-822-7700) And Im a Va rotorhead. My daughter is in that weekend or I offer you a stay at my house. I live about 25 miles from VIR. If the lodge is too pricey. There are lots of places in Danville or South boston.

Most of us from around Raleigh will drive back Saturday night. It's about an hour and a half drive at most.

Yeah, i'll be up for Satuday and return that evening. But if you wanted to stay i'm pretty sure the admission you get when signing up at the msccnc website covers Sunday as well...you just have to make sure to get a wristband or whatever so they'll let you in the next day. If you'd be interested i can check and make sure i'm understanding this correctly...

It's just that is it a 6 hour drive back to ATL. And if the RBQ is not until dinner time, then that is a pretty late drive getting home, after all day at the track. Doubtful I will want to go back to the track on Sunday, but I'm usually up for whatever is going on.
