I cant find a JOB!!! In Gainesville Fla.

Is it just me/..??? I have been in the Marines for 10 years... I joined right out of high school and now i am in Gainesville florida and cant find anything to do. Staying at home watching Divorce court and Oprah is starting to get old
Been searching online for jobs and sending out the Resume but no replies
Getting low on money .. and i am thinking about selling the FD..... The FD people..... . thats how bad its getting..
when i was in the military .. i was in logistics and operations but it doenst really equate to too many options in the civilian world.. just wanted to vent

this might sould like a **** option but it would be a job go to Publix in the millhopper square they might be hiring! i know it soulnd shitty but they do take care of there ppl they start you out a lil low but in 3 months you get a pay raise and every 6 months after that you do too you can use it get you by for a while till you get another job. or you can go by target copy or university copy in town they are hiring some time rennissance printing does too! i use to live in good ol g-ville b4 i joined the army ,and it does suck it can be really competative around there some times but right the college students are out of town so its a good time too look!

check with Enterprise. They're always hiring. I don't know of many offices up there, but that's who I work for. I started with them right after college. I got hired into their management in training program. 2 years later I'm a senior account executive and it's going great. Good luck man!

Hmm, I know some of my buddies that were in the marines are now Quiktrip managers and they were machine gunners, so yeah no civilian counterpart really. They make like 40-50k a year so you might want to check that out if they have QT's in Gainesville.

Gainesville isn't exactly the place to go looking for employment unless you don't mind flipping burgers or sweeping floors. You should only move there to study, start your own business (preferably catering to college students), or retire. That's it.

I remember going there a few years ago to check out the area and trying to find "downtown". I thought I was in the wrong area when I fact I kept driving THROUGHT it and didn't notice it. "Downtown" consists of a few decaying 2- or 3-story buildings. Not exactly an employment hotbed.

I have a black 94 she should be on the road in about 2 weeks.. what color is yours. red or blue.. I see a white one parked at Shands all the time..

My interview is at 3pm today.. gots to go get the hair cut and all that.. I am kinda leaning to i have the job. but i dont want to get too excited.. but i saw the ad in the paper monday walked in filled out the app.. there was a stack of about 30 blank forms. after i was done he gave it a once over and said the standard line .. were still taking apps... well we will contact you if anything.... but a few hours later had a msg on the machine to come back today. for the "interview" so maybe thats a good thing..
im not really sure what this company does. from what i have seen they supply bearings and driveshafts for heavy equipment..
but they are looking for someone to manage thier inventory and make deliveries..
dont know how much they are paying yet but anything will do at this point

well the interview went ok.. got asked the basic question drill.. when i walked in this other guy was filling out an application but the empty stack looked about the same.. so not too may people have applied..
after the interview he showed me around the facility and the daily routine as if i was going to start tomorrow.. He introduced to to the other 2 guys that worked there.. after a tour of the warehouse he asked me if i had any ?'s and then said that the ad will be running for 2 more days (thurs) and he had more interviews and he would let me know in a few days.. . I feel good about it.. but nothing is garunteed except death.. so im just waiting.. my new problem is that my FD and stuff are still up in NY and i was planning on bringing them down to FL some time soon but if i start working.. i may be with out my FD for a while.. dont know how to work this one out.. I want to go get it now but need to stay here by the phone..

Haha, well I was going to offer to drive it down for you, but after looking at it! Damn man, even I own I'm not sure I'd let myself drive it lol. If you have the $ and what not, I could be hired asa driver to drive it in tow or something if you made arrangements but there are probably more expeirenced auto-movers around. Just trying to be helpful. A week with out my car(even at the opposite of yours) is still a painful week. Good luck in everything man. Things'll work out.

Why dont you apply with the police department... i have friends that were in the marines and they are police officers.. they make great money and with the military background it should be easy getting in.

as far as getting your car down here.. just drive to PA and get it on the Amtrak to Sanford, FL from there you can drive the rest of the way.

if you already have 10 years with the gov, why not just switch branches? join the coast guard or something, and stay in florida and in the US. stay for another 10 years, and relax on your pension?

Yeah there are just so many options.. I actully did apply for a Police officer and got the letter to be a canidate and go for the interview but as i was reading.. they do a mean *** credit check and i am not in the best position financially right now.. so i think i am not going to go to the interview.. and the other thing is that my girl is doing her residency at the hospital here until mind 2007 and then we will see where we want to go after that.. so i dont want to get too locked in to a "good" job right now. and i have considered the USCG but there isnt too much water in GVille. ..

The Door kit is made by Decah.. Dont know if the guy was lying to me to sell the kit but it was the first order that the company had processed for the FD when they started them in mass production this was back in 2002
