Huntsville Get Together
What's Up Guys! Been a while since I've posted...
I was just about to purchase a Black 88TII from
a guy named Danny in Huntsville, and he just sold
it out from under me because I am out of state at
the moment....he only had it up for sale for half a
day! I just want to know if he is telling me the truth
or not.
Anyone in here happen to purchase it?
I have tried four times now to work out a deal on
a TII with no luck at all....
Maybe I should hold out for an FD roller...
I am located in Meridianville near Huntsville, AL...
If ANY of you find an FD roller...or TII, or running...
please let me know...thanks!

Whats up greg! That's funny, I was going to meet him tonight at 7pm at bridge street to look it over but he never called back. When did he say he sold it? That was a still for 1950!
Yep, it seemed like a good deal. I have delt with Danny before, and I was surprised at the price he listed for this one. He usually overprices what he Is selling. I previously looked at a Vert he had for sale last year, but the price for condition was way off....but it ran good.
The catch is that he rebuilds the engines himself, so I wanted to see it In person before sending any cash. I was actually going to call you to see if you would look at it before I purchased it since i am out of town for work again, but he emailed me last night and said it was sold. He only had it listed for less than a day...which seemed strange.
Maybe he didn't want to deal with me again since I didnt buy the Very...I dunno...ttyl.
Hey guys, I'm sure few of you know me, but I'm the guy that got Danny's t2. I also own another 88 but it is an SE from the Moulton area. It is and has been undergoing some extensive work with Luis down in Attalla so if any of you use him you may be familiar with the car. Blue with Mazda vinyl on the lower half of the windshield. That car's been a long time coming, and is the reason I registered here in 07.
Anyways, so far I'm trying to figure out why Danny sold the t2 so cheap. Still not too sure, it starts and idles fine, pulls strong, and even has a/c. Some slight cons, it sometimes grinds fifth, there's some white paint drops around the doors and some on the steering wheel, and the a/c blows some sort of debris when on recirculate.. Otherwise, I feel like it was money well spent.
Here's a couple photos.

I hope to post more now that I have a running FC again. And hopefully, there's no hard feelings about the t2. I am feeling exceptionally lucky having found it when I did.

forget the car, Nice View in back ground! What lake is that?
Good buy on the car, even if it needs some work you still did well. I was only interested in buying it to resale it...
I just sold a 87TII with one owner 73k miles to a forum member on here.
As for Danny, he can suck it! Not that he sold the car but never returned my calls or emails. I was sitting around waiting to go meet him that night. All he had to do is send a txt or a quick call.... jackass!

I would have purchased it if you had not. Mike would have probably
beat me to it since I am not at home right now.
Danny can be a little funny to work with, but it seems that his rebuilds
run decent. He uses the Atkins Rotary rebuild kit with stock 2mm Apex Seals.
I prefer FD's anyway, but for the price it's really hard to beat that TII.
I have owned several TII's, and they are an excellent daily driver.
Hope to meet up with you when I finally stay home long enough to
build another RX7. I will just have to keep searching for a good chassis

Greg

Greg, you back in Fl? When you back here?
No, I got offered a permanent job in Huntsville back in November, so I quit my old job and returned home to Huntsville. I worked for a few months at home, but then ended up switching to a different department within the company. I have now been sent to help with a job up in Missouri, and I may be gone for over 5 months
At least it's a job......but I am tired of traveling so much.
How are you Mike?

Your right, it pays the bills and the wife ands kids like that!
Everything is fine here. Boys are going to school this year so things will be different for a bit.
Car is fine, ready to hit the track, just not digging racing in this nasty weather!
Reasons for the price are starting to pop up finally.
Today on the way to work I lost the entirety of my gauge cluster with the exception of the speedometer. When they all went, so did climate controls. I still have the rest of my electronics so I'm hoping it isn't too huge an issue. Windows and sun-roof still open fine, lights are ok, and door locks are ok...
There is also a bit of an oil leak. Got in the car yesterday to head to work, and the oil level buzzer was acting up, but finally went off once the car warmed and was up to speed. Got to work ok and had to wait for a break to check it out. Started it up and the buzzer never turned off, so I checked and there was no oil on the stick at all so I had to buy a few quarts from a gas station up the street and top it off. 3 quarts later the dipstick reads full when warm and the buzzer didn't make a peep on the trip home from work yesterday or to work today. I am however, afraid that the buzzer is gone with the rest of the gauges so I'll be keeping a close eye on oil levels.
So, any suggestions for this electronic issue? I'm a total rotary newby even though this is my second FC and I don't have the room for a ton of tools currently. Not that it would matter, I'm not very well versed mechanically either but I do enjoy wrenching, it is the trouble shooting that is the problem for me, especially when it comes to electrical systems.

So i have been looking for an exhaust there is an ebay company called rotary-works that has a turbo back with a nice turn down for 400 shipped.
Then next on my list are wheels and suspension. Anyone have coilovers they don't want?
But the plan is to have a nice clean head turning daily driver. Right now it needs to be painted.

$325 on et streets and wheels.
I have coil overs on the shelf but want really wanting to sell.
Get a PFC, full exhaust no cats, intake , boost controller, better ic or meth inj. Et streets and go run mid to high 7's and but hurt some of the hsvracing boys!!
I have a stock ic with the intake part riveted shut for use with cold air intake if you don't want to screw up yours. Also have block of plates for emissions stuff.

what do you recommend? i do love a light weight flywheel on a rotary, what do you think?
anything else to do while im down there. full exhaust is on order but no way to tune it.
can you pull the vaccum line boost pill restrictors and it not overboost?

Can anyone get hold of an updated number for Luis C. in Gadsden/Attalla area again? The two I have for him are no longer valid and I've still got a car down there with him.
The TurboII is running like a champ after replacing blown out oil cooler lines with a CorkSport braided stainless kit. I even put it through a drift event just to see what that scene was all about. I don't think I'll be drifting the TII anymore, though, maybe the one Luis is working on for me if we can ever come together and get this thing finished.
Anyone got any meetups or anything planned? Wouldn't mind meeting up with some of you guys and maybe learning a thing or two.

Let's try this again. I think we should try to meet up at least once a month if not more frequent. Sk8world and I met up last Wednesday night at the HSV Racing gathering and there were at least 30 cars (mostly V-8's) that showed. They meet up the First Wednesday of every month at the Dairy Queen/Texaco on Hwy 72W near Madison. I'm sure next month when the weather warms a bit, the number of cars that show will probably double. Anyone that is into the local car scene will probably be there. Also, how about doing the lunch or dinner thing. What do you guys think? Let's try to keep this going this time... in a positive way.
i live near memphis and me and my brother will bring our 7s up their sometime!!
Wow, this must be the longest running thread on the forum.
I didn't realize there was a rotary scene in HuntsVegas. I moved here 2 years ago and have seen maybe three RX-7s on the road.
anybody still alive/awake? Hook me up with info, maybe meeting times.
I drive a black '88 TurboII.
