I'd reccomend Castrol GTX 20-50 in warm weather, and 10-30 in cold weather.

It should take somewhere 4-5 quarts. Just put 4 in, wait for the oil to settle, and look at the dipstick and keep adding oil until it's full.

4.5 quarts, make sure to drain out the oil cooler, as draining the oil from the block doesnt drain the oil cooler. Adding new oil and leaving the oil cooler with old oil kinda defeats the purpose IMO.

P.S. I recommend Valvoline VR1 20W-50

The trans and diff oil are different IMO. I think diff oil is REALLY heavy compared to tranny oil.

To drain the oil from the oil cooler, get underneath the car, and look for the drain plug on the cooler itself. It should be right on the underside of the cooler. Drain it, drain the block, and just fill it up...

how much "old" does the 7 take?

You mean oil, right? I usually buy 7 quarts, 4 3/4 to fill the system and the remainder to top off between oil changes.

I use Castrol 20W50, and I change the oil filter as well every time. I buy 6 quarts, 5 to put in, and 1 to pour in with the drain plug out to flush. I use a magnet around the oil filter and change oil every 2000 miles. No need to top off.

The diff is easy. It has 2 large plugs. One is to drain, one is to fill. Make sure you get the fill one out first, just in case you let all the oil out and cannot refill. I use Royal Purple Max Gear synthetic, it only takes less than 2 quarts, I like to buy 3 to flush and make sure I have enough. Make sure you clean the magnetic plug of all metal shavings. The tranny is a little harder but doable, there are 2 drain plugs and one fill. You fill both chambers from the top but they have to be drained individually. I use Royal Purple Max Gear synthetic there too, or Max ATF on my automatics, which have to be flushed by a machine properly. Good luck and don't screw up your car or make a mess, gear oil stinks.

Agree with most everything above. The tranny and diff use the same weight gearl oil. Recommend Royal Purple Max Gear because of its lubricating qualities. I also use Royal Purple 20W50 Oil in the engine and use K&N'd oil filter and have not had any problems with that combination. I drive an 89 GTU and she loves the oil and the attention.

LOL
Yep, never attempt to use the wrong tool to remove the fill plug after the drain plug is already out, especialy while intoxicated. You may be without your car for car for a few days....
