Hey everyone

Just saying hi. I don't have an RX7 yet... I'm still trying to sell my AE86, but until then, I'm looking at some FD's around Florida. Found one that I may buy... has a rebuilt rotary and auto tranny. Body needs a paint job, and the interior needs a bit of work. Best thing is, the guy is offering me to help me do a manual tranny swap for just the cost of parts, most of which he already has.

Either way, it still rests on the sale of my 86.

And I just wanted to say hi, because eventually I'll be joining you guys, whether or not I get this particular FD.

I have a manual transmission in Gainesville that I will sell if you need one. Also a manual drive shaft which you will need. Good luck and welcome.

In my experience, doing a manual swap is an incredible pita and not worth the hassle. If you want a manual I suggest just taking your time and waiting for a manual car in your price range.

Unless you're buying a roller to do a total rebuild of the car I would skip it.

The hardest part on doing a tranny swap is finding the pedals

The guy I might buy the FD from has most of the parts, pedals too i believe. He's done tranny swaps, and he'll help me with mine, so hopefully everything would go smooth. I find it as a good way to learn about the car.

I've also thought about just waiting until i found a manual.. but i'm not sure. For 9k just for the car that has a rebuilt rotory with 500 miles on it and tranny, plus another 1.5 k for a manual tranny swap... then say 3k for a custom paint job... that can put me at the point where I could find a manual rx7 that may or may not have had a rebuild. And I'd still have to pay for a paint job. And I refuse to pay 14k for a car that has dings and scratches on it when I know I can spend tha tmuch in the end and have a nice exterior and interior.

Probably the only thing I would pay around 14/15k for is an RX7 with a motor swap. Say a 1JZ or something. But those are few and far between and extremely expensive from what I've seen.

Feel free to prove me wrong though. I'm a newbie with RX7's, never owned one but want to.

6k. I won't go into details here since this isn't a classified's forum. Either way, she isn't whored out or anything. I restored her to stock condition. She has a few minor things that need to be fixed, but they're mostly cosmetic. Either way, I have a couple prospective buyers, just a matter of when I sell it, not if.
