Thanks Bobby for the parking passes and acting as the middle man so that the GT Live young ladies could get their picutres taken with Greg. I know they were really excited and embarassed to ask Greg and they seemed to appreciate your intervention on their behalf. I can't see his hands though and I heard they asked for his autograph but I didn't hear where he put it. :0(

I also gotta thank Johny for rep'ing the RRDI in the SIM laps and winning first place in his class, "Shiny white Mazda 10th AEs". He was so confident that his lap time could not be beaten by Tarzan that he didn't allow the Tarzan to drive Tiffany, or maybe he just didn't let Tarzan drive Tiffany? The rest of us were too scared to get out there, and we appreciate Johny representing RRDI so well. Maybe next year!

I actually got some pretty good shots of the ST race and will post'em tonight. Thanks to all that got out of bed before the sun came up on Sunday and drove up for a wild day of motorsports like we've never seen before. Hope Eric found his way home yesterday.

Nic/Kerri - How did the house look when you got home? How'd you make it to work this morning, Nic? Iwas rough getting up at 6:30 for me

Has anyone heard from Eric? I was going to call him on my way back but didn't have his cell phone # loaded in my new phone. When I left at 5:45 Eric, Greg, and Booby were still there and Johny was getting ready to leave. Andy and his brother had just left so I hope Eric found someone that could bet him back to Rawley. If not I may have to drive up there this afternoon and see if I can find him.

 

Also should mention that Dave, an RRDI member from our start up was at the GT Live event and mentioned that he has an S4 FC with a blown engine and a ReW engine that he needs to find a good home for. If anyone needs an FC and wants to do a motor swap or a rebuild then he can help you out. Also if anyone has a camaro, firebird or old corvette sitting around and has been wanting to do a rotary swap then Dave can also provide a good engine for that. Post up in the Saturdays in Raleigh forum and I'm sure he'll read it or you can send him a PM.

 

I led Eric and Bobby back to where they needed to be. We left a little after 7:30pm, last I saw of Eric was on I-40 heading home when I took my exit.

 

Thanks Greg for watching over the kids. It was a great day and I really enjoyed the drive up. I came back the old way that I knew from previous trips to VIR.

 

^I'm good Bert, I finally got home at 11:30. I turned on 440 while I was on the phone with my buddy and had to turn around, and as I drove into town I ran out of gas so my roommate had to bring some to me, but I finally made it home and I was BEAT. Oh, and Nic didn't have to work this morning, Columbus Day FTW!

Greg- that time I waved at you, did you think I was asking for a race? Cause you took off like a bat outta hell, haha. I think I did alright for never downshifting outta 5th though . If I had known I was gonna run outta gas though, I probably wouldn't have done that, but it did feel good!

Bobby- as everyone else has said, thanks for the parking permits and everything else, and please save me a poster too. I'd love to see those pics when you get them up. My pics arent' that great.

Johny- you lucky dog! Getting to ride in the CyberEvo with Tarzan. Good job in the time attack though. LONG LIVE THE ROTARY!

I also want to thank the GENIUS on the four wheeler that slammed into the back of my go kart and almost broke my back. I hope to see him again someday, maybe in a dark alley?

 

Damn son, you did have a road TRIP hah! Nah, there was this 8 on my *** right when you waved and I thought to myself... 4th and some gas and I'll move out of the way hah!

I wish I could explain how damn fast the cyber evo was the G force was unbelieveable from taking off and in the curves. I wish I had that kind of curage and faith in my car. I read somewhere that the evo has over 700 hp

It is Great to hear from you. I know most planes in today's AF have aerial refueling capabilities but on the ground most drivers use what is called a gas station or in the south we used to call them filling stations.

The trick is you have to pull off the highway and park, yes stop the car and turn off the ignition, in front of something called a gas pump.

This "pump" has a hose that tranfers the fuel from an under ground tank into your gas tank, after you open the fuel filler door.

I know this is already sounding complicated but stay with me here, this will come in handy later this week or next Sunday for sure.

Once you have the fuel door open and you've activated the gas pump by sticking in a credit or ATM card and punched the correct series of buttons ( or paid the gas station attendent with real money )

Next choose the correct grade of fuel you want, 93 Octane for you car, you then remove the gas cap from the gas tank filler tube and insert the gas pump hose nozzle into the filler tube and squeeze the nozzle trigger. You will then hear the fuel flowing into your tank. You can watch the indicator display on the pump to find out how much gas has gone into your tank and the total costs of your load of fuel.

Release the nozzle trigger when the cost of the fuel you have dumped into your car equals the amount of money you have in your wallet, pockets, in and under the seats, in the car's other money depositories - ashtray, console hidey holes, under the floor mats, etc. If the tank fills before you have exhausted your monetary supply the hose nozzle will cut off automatically.

Replace the gas cap on the fuel filler tube, close the fuel filler door, remove your receipt from the gas pump receipt dispenser and get back in your car.

Record the mileage indicated on the trip odometer and reset it back to 0. Now you are ready to start your car and resume your trip.

Repeat the above steps each time the needle, the pointy thing in your fuel gage gets close to the "E". The fuel gage is supposed to indicate what portion of the car's tank contains fuel. This gage is located in the indtrument cluster ; it has an E on the left side or at thte bottom of the display and an F on the right side or at the top of the display and several little tic marks between the E & F. The "E" does not stand for Enough, it stands for EMERGENCY and Emergencies are bad things in cars and at hospitals. The "F" stands for FAR and is an indicator on the distance you can travel with your present load of fuel. Please, lets not get into why car makers chose E & F for the fuel gage markings, I don't know why. I am just reporting the facts as they were explained to me by my Dad, I don't make this stuff up.
In fact, just to be safe, I would encourage you to begin looking for a Gas station whenever the pointey thing in the gas gage is showing between the last tic mark and the Emergency indicator. And my final advice, always trust your Gas gage to determine how much gas is in your tank, never, never, ever use a match or a road flare to attempt to look into the gas tank filler tube to see how much gas is in your tank. This will cause a real Emergency regardless of what your gas gage is indicating!

 

Yeah I imagine that ride is s a whole 'nother ball game. I heard someone else say it wass 700hp also. I'm with you, I wish i had that kind of skill and the faith in the car that could handle it.

 

Just watching that evo was freakish. That thing was a monster. It looked like he was outrunning the grandam racers up the hill.


And Bert... thats the best 'how to fill your gas tank' I've ever read hahahahahaha. Can we get that in our owners manual.

Oh I understand well, YOu own an FD, 'nough said. I still like those new wheels, We'll take up a collection at the next DI to be sure you can make it back home. Did you check your MPG on the fill up? I had gotten 17.55 mpg on the previous tank and got 20.91 on the trip up to VIR and back.

 

My brother and I had a good time on Sunday. During our absent period from the group, we were busy trying to hunt down Tarzen so we can get his autograph early on as we expect he will be extremely busy later when people begin to arrive VIR. I managed to get few photos of him during practice run with his Evo as well as a very good autograph on one of Tarzen T-shirt I bought on the internet before. When he begin to show up at regular time trial event, we were busy looking for GT girls to grab few personal photograph moment. I guess we were prepared and luck to obtain all we looking for in this event :-p
Too bad I can't post pictures here due to size of photo since I shot them in 5M pixels mode :-(

Well, many people probably didn't know but my brother lost his wallet at the event after we left draft session around 11:00am. We end up got it back from lost and found office, all his credit cards, driver license and other cards were intact, only cash was gone so I consider he was lucky. When we were on our way back to parking lot, the Mazda Sport editor stopped me before the bridge and ask me to follow him up to the VIR club house for the photo session together with a 13B rotory Miata. Some of you probably saw that green miata on that day, the ower came all the way from FL and contacted Mazda sport editor earlier specifically for this photo shoot. We were there hang out for about 45 mins introduce our cars to these editors, they took many pics as well as shot a video. They've asked me to provide my mod list as well as some other details via email, hope my car will end up in the magzine.

We left VIR around 5:15pm, got home and crashed. It was a very fun day! Hope GT live will do again next year at East Coast!

 

Glad you guys had fun Andy, I thought it was a blast even if the weather was sucky. I hope the weather and low turnout doesn't keep them from coming back. 5M pixels!?!?!?!? I want to see them!!!! haha

Mine are 5MPs also, I just downsize them before putting them on the web :-). The photos from the shoots will be in the December issue of MazdaSport mag. I plan on picking up a year subscription.

 

I am amazed that he got his wallet back with everything except the cash. I'd still be worried that whoever took the cash still had the chance to copy all the information off of the credit cards including the 3 digit confirmation #. He should let the companies that issued the credit cards know that he'd misplaced his wallet for a few hours and that the credit cards could have been copied or at least the info stolen. Anything else in the wallet with his personal information could've been copied as well. At least he should then be protected and be issued new cards.

I've never heard of MazdaSport magazine but glad to know there is another magazine that covers our cars because RXTuner has had a rough time getting off the ground. I think I only got 2 or 3 issues out of last year's subscription. Your car should be the cover shot and I don't know how many people I saw stop and admire it while it was parked in the north paddock and down at the drifting area. You did a fantastic job putting that car together and its nice to see people appreciate what you've done.

We'll be driving down to Wilmington November 4th for the Brits and Battleship Car Show. This year they are having a category for Japanese sports cars and you should enter your FD in that show and represent us rotaries and I'd like to see Nick enter his RX8 and Johny and Rodney Byrd enter their FCs. It is a great show with some beautiful old British cars on display, here is a couple of photos from last year's trip:
