Dyno Tuning by Steve Kan in Jacksonville, FL on June 8, 2013 (and possibly June 9)

Steve Kan from KanTuning, PRT Performance | Lewisville Performance Shop | Dallas Auto Services | Dyno Tuning, will come to Jacksonville to tune our cars if we have a minimum of 5 people for a one day tuning session. If we can get 8 people on board for a two day tuning session, we can get a price break for both him and for the dyno. The dyno is actually in Orange Park at Tuners Inc., 164 College Drive, Orange Park, Florida 32073. https://www.facebook.com/tunersincperformance. Today I visited Tuners Inc and met with its owner Tony. There is plenty of parking at his facility which has an in ground dyno. Visitors are welcome. Both Steve and Tony are open for weekend tuning in June. I arbitrarily picked June 8. If it turns out a different date is better for all when we lock in the 5 person minimum, we will likely have enough lead time to move the date. Once we have 5 committed people, I will lock in the date with both Steve and Tony.

The below pricing structure is for Steve's tuning if we can get 8 people committed for a two day tuning session. If we only have enough for a one day tuning session, 5 people, then add $50:
$350 - Stock Turbo up to 12psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$400 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 16psi of boost (pump gas only) 1 map
$450 - Aftermarket Turbo from 16psi - 25psi of boost (race gas and/or auxiliary injection only) 1 map
$600 - Aftermarket Turbo up to 25psi of boost (pump gas and race gas tune) 2 maps
On all tuning sessions there is a non-refundable $200 deposit.

Dyno costs will be divided equally among participants. The two day cost is $1000 and a one day cost is $650. Tony wants a 50% non-refundable deposit.

Steve is able to tune the following engine management systems:
Accel Gen 7
AEM EMS
AEM (FIC) Fuel/Ignition Controller
A'PEXi Power FC/FC Edit (all cars/model)
Autronic SMC, SM2 and SM4
Cobb Accessport for Rx8 (protuner), G35/350Z/370Z(streettuner), Mazdaspeed (Streettuner), Subaru (Streettuner), GTR (Streettuner)
Dynojet Power Commander / all models
DSM/ECM Link
EcuFlash for Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles
EFI Live
Electromotive Tec 3 and Tec 3R
F.A.S.T. and F.A.S.T. XFI
GReddy Emanage and Emanage Ultimate
Haltech E6X(K), F10X, E6GMX, E8, E11v2 and Platinum 1000/2000
Haltech F10 Fuel Controller
Haltech Interceptor and Miniceptor
Hondata S300, Flash Pro and K-Pro
HP Tuners
Hydra EMS 2.5/2.6/2.7
Link G4
MAF Translator Pro, MAF Translator GenII and MAF Translator
MAP ECU I/II
Megasquirt
Mircotech LT8, LT10, LT12
MoTec M4, M48, M400, M600, M800 and M880
Neptune
Pro EFI
Rtek
SAFC or VAFC
SCT Flash
Turbo XS UTEC
UpRev
Wolf EMS

All deposits would need to be placed by May 6, 2013 to allow Steve time to book airfare and make his travel arrangements. Once we have at least 5 committed people, I will post detailed payment instructions.

The following people are committed to attending this event:
1. Junito1 (I took the liberty of placing you on the list based on our phone call)
2. beckrx
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

If we only get the minimum of 5 people, we will have a one day tuning session. If we can get 8 people, we will have 4 vehicles tuned each day. Let us make this happen!

Well. Its good to have a little extra time for the unexpected. ANyone who is serious about making this dyno should be prepping the cars as much as possible as well as driving the cars as much to put it though its paces before it goes on the dyno.

I also posted a thread on the RACEJAX forum. BUt that forum seems dead. NO pms yet after a week.

Good luck guys! Can't wait to hear about all the "conservative" power numbers that the great Kan can produce.

Make sure to check your maps after he's done tuning so that he doesn't leave your fuel tables at 0 after whatever boost your tuning for.

Not to troll, just want to make sure no one blows their motor on the drive home.

Guys, just did the tune session in Chicago with Steve. What a great guy. I cannot stress enough to have your cars mechanically 100% so as not to waste time fixing rather than tuning. My car had worn plugs which had to be replaced, and a slipping clutch at the top end. He was still able to tune but dyno number on a built motor that should have put ot close to 400 hp was a meager 300 due to slippage. At a minimum, get new plugs. Steve told me I was supposed to change plugs every time I changed the oil. I replied, I did, when I changed the oil 4 years ago.(Car rarely driven)

I'm down in Cocoa Beach, I have to finish swapping the motor over and then getting the rtek upgraded to 2.1. If I don't run into any issues, I should have this all done in a couple of weeks. But you know how these cars can be.

I will have to close this thread on May 6 if we cannot get three more people to commit to the tuning session. This cut off date was established to allow Steve adequate time to arrange for airfare and hotel accommodations. There is still time for three more to commit. Let's make this happen!

That actually works out better for me. More time to get the BNRs , and put the V-mount on the FD. Are you going to use a different a location this time?

As much as i want him to come. Im benefiting from his absence. So far i made a whole timing map from scratch. Its very conservative and i had help from my brother that already knows how to tune. So far partial throttle and boost, specially when my 2000cc id secondaries kick on, is being the biggest biatch. But the car is very drivable out of boost. If this tune session doesnt happen , we plan on doing remote tuning. Im Mainly doing this just to see how his maps compare to mine. The.goal. i learn on 7 psi. And then tune my own 14 psi on e85.

Beckrx,

How much of a heads up does Steve need to to schedule the remote tuning?
I should be ready next week or in 2 weeks for sure. I found out my wastegate vacuum lines are not sourced at the ideal location. My borg warner turbo did not come with the nipple on the compressor. So I have to tap one in. Thats all i have left aside from new spark plugs and fluids.

What all do you need to get your car ready?
