Dyno Day!!! - Charlotte, NC - Nov. 20th
Hey everyone! The shop; CIN Motorsports, (where I have had some work on my RX7 done) moved locations and they are putting on a Dyno day on Saturday, November 20th. All I know right now is that they are planning on making it into a sort of cookout event with $30 for 3 pulls of any kind. I'll get more information on things, but I just wanted to put it out there. They specialize in Nissan 350Zs, Infiniti G35s, and other Domestic stuff. So It would be great to get some RX7s down there to show those guys what our Rotaries can do!
It gets old hearing "nice car, but rotaries just dont have enough torque" comment from the Z guys and especially from the Corvette and Mustang Cobra crowd they have up there. It would be nice not being the only rotary representative out there for a change...
*They use a Mustang Dyno BTW

Sure thing BigIslandSevens. If you or anyone else has any specific questions about the dyno or anything they have planned or even something you might want to see if they can do that day, just lemme know and I can look into it.

One of the most recent Shelby GT500's that they built was around 742 whp and 720+ ft-lbs of torque I think? The guy got scared of the power and had them retune it with a larger pulley and brought the power down to the mid 600's instead. There is a really nasty hot-rod black (almost flat black) C6 Corvette that made around 750 some-odd whp. I got a chance to ride in it and it was just stupid. My 7 is scary, but that car would give someone a nightmare. Felt like the body of the car was going to rip off. Still a fun ride though!
If you are asking me.... Bryan @ Rotorsports Racing built my motor over 5 years and 33k miles ago. The last time Bryan tuned it, I made just over 320 whp with it breaking up around 7300 rpm. We haven't retuned it since I put the HKS Twin Power on it. Which cured my ignition issue there btw. So a retune is in store when I finish putting it back together.
You betcha. If the Mustang is a 96 or newer, they can hook it up to the OBDII port and pull all the information you could want during the runs. I'm not sure how many of those other parameters they can print at once, but I know A/F's are a definite yes.
Ok, it is TWO days before the dyno day and I will bet my last dollar some bodies rotary will break today or tomorrow and not make it. Lol
I don’t know why but it ALWAYS happens! Ha-ha
I am trying to be one of the first in line since I plan on heading out to the Auto Show.
