Does anyone have a LSX FD in GA?

My motor went south this weekend and I am pondering swapping to a LS1/LS6. I would really like to see, hear, and ride in one before I take the plunge though.

I'm in the middle of GA so anywhere bordering the state would work too.

TIA

You can PM my father, "2hotrods". He lives in Pensacola, FL and has a 400+whp LS1/T56 FD. I'm sure he wouldn't mind letting you taking a look/ride.

I'm honestly not dead set on going through with it. I like the uniquness of the rotary and I love the rush of power the turbos provide, but the reality of it is that when you get up beyond 350rwhp (and in my case, right at) they become exponentially more fragile. I have been damn lucky to put 60k miles on my car without it leaving me stranded. My luck ran out this weekend.

This is gonna sound wierd, but one of the main reasons that I wouldn't do the swap is the sound. I don't like how two rotors sound and I equally don't like V8s. I want a car that sounds mean yet civilized, something like a german car. Doesn't make much sense huh? There are so many loud *** v-8s around here that I am sick of the sound.

academytim,
Thanks. I think I'll see if I can find someone closer, it's a 4-5 hour drive down there. If I can't find anyone in ATL or something, I may be making a trip to the beach.

My friend ronnie has a 2001 Camaro ss with different heads, corsa exhaust, headers and a cam, he claims 480 hp. An ex airforce guy in my neighboorhood has a 2002 Transam Ws6 with a milder cam. Dunno if anyone would give you a ride though, stick with rotary man it's what sets the Rx-7's apart from the rest.

I live in newnan, check out www.gafba.com... georgia f-body association

I got a ride in my coworker's 02? SS today. I didn't drive it, but from the feedback through the butt dyno, I like the torque. But the power seemed to taper off quite fast in the upper RPM range. I guess I am a sucker for turbos...

The car just feels heavy though, that's why I'd like to take a closer look at a converted FD.

Thanks for the replys guys. Myrtle Beach might be a little far for me, but I may be coordinating a trip to hinson.
