Someone stuff Eddie in the back of their 7 and bring him up to DGRRX.

I don't think there is any Gainesville Caravan... just a couple of locals who wouldn't mind a meet up if you are already stopping nearby whether its on I75 or I95 or whatever.

Here is another option for you Gainesville guys. A group from Orlando is coming up Thursday morning and meeting up with us in Jacksonville and we're going up from there:

Looks interesting as well BUT it's the "DRAGON" that was luring me to the meet..

Does anyone know what Phil has decided about the meet? Is it still gonna happen and what are his choices for a backup plan?

i would want to do the dragon
moonshine run is interesting but i doubt ppl are going to bother coming from the NYC, New England, Quebec, and California to do the moonshine run. Maybe us southerners would entertain it.

Yes, we all want to run the Dragon for sure but I don't think that is going to happen as it is up to TN authorities who have indicated the road will be closed until July. That's a load of crap but what can we do?

Last year was my first year to DGRR. I loved driving the Dragon. However, there are many other good roads all around the Natahala Village that are pretty damn fun too and are unlike anywhere else. The Skyway is great also so there is plenty to do.

I am not Phil, but I would doubt he would cancel the meet. We'll have 250 rotary heads all together at one spot and it doesn't get much better than that.

This is the facebook for the Dragon which is giving recent updates

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Tai...1058066?ref=nf

In any event we can choose to do two things
Dragon in the early fall
or
Mooshine/Skyway this month. Skyway is a nice ride. I think Phil is kind of tied up with things now but im sure he'll let us know soon.

The Dragon is a bit overrated. Bewtew, you will not have fun at the dragon with 850-1000hp. There are better and faster runs around that area, the best and hardest run is the Cherohala skyway run, is way faster than the dragon, many fast blind corners, lots of elevation changes so you cannot see what the hell is coming up next and MUCH MORE dangerous than the dragon itself.
Another good run is from Nantahala village past the Hellbender to us129, but instead of going towards TN you ride the NC side of the Dragon back towards "Fugitive" dam(yes, where they filmed the movie "The Fugitive").
Yet another run is the Devil's triangle, some pretty scary twisties on that one, and much more.
Trust me guys there are better runs out there than the Dragon, I'll say it one more time the Dragon is overrated.

Here is a link to the group from Orlando and Jacksonville:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.ph...93#post9889093

pm me and I'll send you my telephone number. Can you come up to Orlando or Jax the night before? Ideally I would like the Orlando guys to get on the road by 7 am so that would be quite early for you.

???

Get that car together and come on up. Seriously, once you've attended a DGRR event, you won't want to miss another one. I didn't think I would mind one way or the other, but I have to say it is a blast, regardless of the Tail of the Dragon. Frankly, we spent most of our time last year just hanging out and talking to everyone else.

And being able to see all the other cars was a big plus and as of last count, there were over 130 rotaries that will be there and over 250 people.

See my above post. Really, don't sweat it. If it's open that great, if not, there seriously are many other great roads to drive. But the biggest thing is hanging out with your fellow rotor heads and seeing the other 130+ cars that will be there.

Last year was my first event and it blew me away. Wouldn't miss it again.

Anyone thinking of not coming simply because the Dragon is closed will miss the greatest gathering of rotorheads this side of the Mississippi. From the first time we put this event together i've been hooked on coming back, once you get there you'll know what i mean, i swear the roads were designed by a motorsport enthusiast 90% of the turn are banked sweeping turns perfect for spirited driving.........TRUST ME!!!
