TN Devil's Triangle Run Suday 3/16

Ok everyone we are going to ride the Devil's Triangle west of Oak Ridge. It is a road that some believe rival the Dragon. We will meet at 11 am at the Krogers ond Northshore off of Pellissippi Pkwy. If you live in the Crossville or Oak Ridge area and want to meet up with us at a more convenient spot, let us know so we will know where to meet you. Check links below for further information or PM me.

Haven't been there in a couple years... I don't remember seeing any cruisers out while I was there. It's not as popular or as well known as the Dragon, so it's probably not as bad enforcement-wise. The Dragon has been crawling with LEO's on the weekends so maybe this will be a nice break from that. We should probably take it easy as we pass by Brushy Mountain though.

Oh good, it'll be nice to have a bit of a variety. So far I'm the only rotary that's committed. Cody has shotgun.

We are most likely going to add a stop in Oak Ridge so people who live there or west of there do not have so far to drive.

Sounds good to me. Our local club has decided to hold our bi-weekly meet at Kroger's at 10:30. Then whoever wants to go along will leave when you guys are ready. So just look for a large amount of primered cars in the parking lot.

I'll have to keep this place in mind once my FC is back together.

I'd rather not dog on the SEPU as it's my daily driver.

Your ink on the dragon site is bad. Heres the one that works, at least I think this is what you meant to link to.

Of course only you know what your car can handle but a lot of us are indeed driving D.D. Also everyone drives at their own pace and rigor as well. In other words whether its a leisure drive or you are trying to set the road on fire is up to you. We just want everyone to use common sense when we ride. Besides its all for fun

Thanks for the link correction TG, I think something got lost in translation from our other thread.

I've seen what those RX-8's can do red, I don't think you'd have to push it much. But I understand not wanting to play in the daily.

Hey Sunset, has anyone from SportsCarFrenzy been on Supraforums.com? I know it's kinda short notice but you might wanna put up a thread in their SE section. I used to be a Supra owner and there were a few Knoxville area people that posted on there from time to time.

Good idea. Since I am the one that usually reaches out, I know it hasn't been done. Its short notice but at least they will be ready to be alerted for the next tim. Out of curiosity why did you go from Supras to RX-7s?

Update:: Meeting spot in Oak Ridge

I'm thinking AutoZone/Books-A-Million/Waffle House parking lot, up near the street? (Illinois Ave).
Have you discussed a meeting/leaving time from Northshore-Kroger?
I'm thinking it would take ~15-20 minutes to get to the O.R. AutoZone...

Sorry for the slow reply... got a thread up on Supraforums!

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=481613

I guess I'll be the Supra liaison until we find someone who actually still owns one. I didn't really convert... I actually owned the Supra alongside my two RX-7's at one point. I just really couldn't keep 3 cars though, so I sold the Supra because the engine knocked. I'm still planning on getting another one someday, they're great cars. I have an addiction to older sports cars (ones I can afford.) I had an '84 Z at one point. I bought it for a friend who was short on cash and sold it to him a few weeks later. It was in bad shape but it was still a fun little car.

I don't know Oak Ridge that well, although I do know that Illinois Ave is pretty much central so that sounds good. Our club is meeting up at 10:30am at Kroger. Not sure who's coming though.

I always wanted one of the 4 early nineties JDM cars. Let my fiancee talk me out of a 94 RX-7 or Stealth RTTT and have regretted not getting it to this day. Didn't even marry the winch. Anyway it was a good lesson to learn. Will See you there on Sunday.

yea, it's not that I don't think the 8 is more than capable... it's more that I'm limiting the millage on it for commuting. Until I finish school money's tight, so I need to make sure nothing goes wrong with anything to upset my budget till them.

Enjoy guys... wish I could go.

Yeah I gotcha. I'm sure nothing on the RX-8 is very cheap to fix. Just out of curiosity... aren't all 92 FC's convertibles?

I guess I am the first to post about the March ride to the Devil's Triangle, but it was a great time again. The rides get bigger every time. By the time we left Oak Ridge we had 13 cars but definitely was not an unlucky number. Everyone departed safe and sound although I think one car may have had a problem with a vacuum line. Anyway the Devils Triangle in my opinion is rougher than the Dragon. It has curves to rival and the road and lack of shoulder requires All attention forward. The drive seemed to give the cars brakes a heavier toll as well as never before have we had brakes smell like they did today.

Anyway can't wait already for next month's ride. Although, I think for the next ride I am going to hang in back so I can try my other car. Everyone stay tuned for our next ride. Maybe we can keep on making them bigger and better.
