Seems like there are alot of 3rd gens around here. I saw a black fd on I-40 between winston and advance. It had black rims with polished lip i think. Tan interior. I tried to stick with him and just cruised behind him for a while. When I got beside him though he didn't show as much enthusiasm to see another rotorhead as I expected. What I mean is he gave me the bird so I cursed him the fudge out. If you don't feel like interacting with other owners fine but don't act like some arrogant ********. Anyway I basically told him he don't deserve that car and to go get a new charger like the rest of egoistic conceited douchebags

lol, that cracked me up. Well for the record, I'm the OTHER black FD in Winston, stock wheels. I tend to look at every other rotary that I see passing me, just to see if they're looking back, and I'm a little surprised too at how few are. ESPECIALLY when it comes to RX8's, but I think a good portion of those drivers don't even know they have a rotary....

Granted, I don't expect every Mustank owner to acknowledge the other Mustanks, but you'd figure us RX7 guys might show each other a little more respect since we all have the same love/hate relationship with the apex seal...

Not bad. Yup, I happened to be fiddling with my commander right as you drove by and didn't get a chance to waive...hoped you didn't think I was snubbing you... Your car was sure looking good though! How's that swap treating you? Saw your old house was up for rent.

I thought I have seen your car there before! I live in Greensboro and I am going to start school at UNCG in the Fall.

I have a '79 SA undergoing transformation to GSL-SE and a MB '93 FD. I have cruised threw UNCG with my friends and saw your car awhile back. I didn't know that you were on the forums.

But unluckey for me on Christmas day a punk ricer hit the back left of my FD on the highway comming up on me to fast when it was raining and spun me into the wall on 29S. I am having the FD repaired but my GOD i was pissed and wanted to kill that ******. Some dumb *** in a '98 Honda Prelude. But the car is at home until the claims adjuster comes out to see it. If you want to stop buy sometime I have the car here just let me know.

Cheers.

Sorry to hear about your FD. I know how infuriating it can be to be hit by some idiot. I had some dumbass girl on a phone rear-end me in stopped traffic one day. I still regret not ripping the phone out of her hand and smashing it on the ground.....

Well I wanted to be first in line to be buddy buddy with you. There might come a time when it could be good for me to know a state trooper...... I don't know if you would have any gonnections, but I was curious about LIDAR's effectiveness on the front of a black FD. I'm suspicious we might have a little advantage there since there's no reflective surfaces like most cars have.....

To your question about LIDAR:

Lasers provide an excellent solution to the problem of Radar. The beam densities and coherency are excellent, which means that they do not degrade with flight travel. The wavelengths are much smaller than can be achieved with radar systems, and range from about 10 micrometers to the UV. Since the wavelengths are dense and small the waves are "reflected very well from small objects."

I know for a fact that they are accurate. I can target you a mile away and record your speed Extremely accuratly. Since it can be triggered by movement for the instant on/off (This happens in less than a 10th of a second) I can get you without your Radar/Laser detector going off or you would mistake it for a traffic camera or just a background echo.

Now as far as Radar yes the FD has an excellent scattering rate which will show inconsistencies in Radar tracking Speed. But the Laser Altimetry the FD doesn't fare so well.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hey guys my name is Kory and I live in King. I have a 80' SA that I am currently working on. I don't know if any of you guys ever heard of Sneed's Speed Shop but I used to work there back in the summer of 05 but don't now. If you guys are planning a meet them let me know I would love to meet some of the other rotorheads around Winston.

Interesting. I would have expected the opposite. I would think the FD would be good against laser since it would scatter light, but I would expect the engine to show up fine on radar. Thanks for sharing the info.

Well ironically I got to talk to a highway patrolman over the weekend. Was involved in a damn hit and run. Fortunately not in the FD. Destroyed the side of the car and of course insurance won't pay unless we find who did it. I love the way the system always finds a way to dick you. I was very impressed with the lady that came out to do the accident report, though. She seemed genuinely concerned and was actually going to try to patrol the area looking for cars with damage. Guess I'm used to the local city and county PD who don't tend to show a lot of interest in anything other than giving tickets....

Yeaaah, I was going to take my FD by Sneed to see if they could weld on a pop-off valve for me. I've heard good things about them.

No, fortunately my FD's still running fine. I hadn't realized their shop had moved though. It was about a year ago when somebody recommended I stop by their old location and I just never got around to it....
