Ahhhhh!! So people ARE paying attention! Just wanted to see if everyone was. (Well, that's as good an excuse as any for a typo, isn't it?? )

May 31st it is. Cecil Field's Lake Fretwell picnic area.

Looking forward to seeing you all'n's out there.
Do we need to get a list of what people want to bring or should we just bring snacks? We want enough food, but we don't want so much that there will be lot's of left overs..

Years ago, we had someone from Tom Bush participating with our get togethers. Are they still players in the game?? Just curious..

Later,
Bill

BTW, is anyone here interested in Geo-caching? There are probly 35- 50 cache's on Cecil Field. Could be interesting for bunch of car nuts to do.

GringoGrande and Purerx7 both said they would try to make it, and spread the word to the Gainesville people.

There are big grills in the pavillions that can handle large quantities of food. I don't know how you guys want to do it, everyone bring something or have everyone chip in or what? It is probly easiest for everyone to bring something, but to make a list so we don't have 15 trays of chicken wings and one bag of chips (I know I am exagerating, but you get the idea).

We can grill burgers and dogs or whatever, have some drinks, etc.

Things I have noticed on past outings:

Drinks are alot easier if they are in 20oz bottles instead of haveing to poor cups with ice. People tend to hang on to them better and they don't get blown around by the wind for others to pick up and throw away. Packing them in a cooler with lots of ice keeps them cool enough (just a thought)

Tin foil is always a good idea for afterwards cleanup of left overs- someone will take them..

variation of food is a good thing. There are other things besides wings... but that is to each owns preference...

A designated time to eat might be easier to manage than a eat as you come type of thing. It's kinda hard to check out peoples rides when you have a floppy paper plate full of bbq beans dripping all over the place in one hand and a plastic cup full of ice and soda in the other. Of course this has to be flexible as some people will arrive later than others. No real perfect way of doing this I guess, just trying to make things easier....

Oh yeah... Huge trash bags are a must...

Ok, Let's start getting a list of who's coming and then we can decide how we want to handle the food side of things...
OH, and BTW, can you put your name down with your screen name. Some of us (meaning me) have a hard time remembering names... THanks.

Ya I looked up what geo-caching is and it looks pretty interesting.

Well I guess I'm up next, I'll get back to you guys on food. Depending on whether or not I get the whole day off will determine if I actually cook something for the cookout, otherwise I'll just bring cookies or something since having cooked food in my car for 9 hours wouldn't do us any good

I just Pm'd a whole bunch of people who have showed up at past meets like the big one we had back in July 06 (had to check several of them to see if they are still current on the boards)

Hopefully they will either pm me back or post here...

Pete, do you think Tom Bush would be interested in sponsoring some of the food costs or something? (Not exactly sure what they used to do back in the day) Who would we contact over there?

So Far:
1 Bill (SSRx7)
2 David (Driven Impulse)
3. Jeff (Sol5t1c3)
4.vato/tony-vato2000taco
5. bryan (purerx7)
6. Tyler(TK7)

Maybe's:
1. Kamanari1
2. Kevin (Gringo Grande)
3. Pete (twinturborx7pete)

Let's keep them coming guys!! This is going to be a great time for a meet!!

Later,
Bill

Hey, welcome aboard! Yep the meet is still on.

For those of you who will be coming up I95 from the south, take I295North (West).
For those coming from the North, Take I295 south from US1, I95, 9A, where ever...

Go to Exit 16. This will be the 103st exit. Go left (west) all the way till you come to a stop sign and you have to turn. This will be new world ave. Follow directions below.

For those coming from West of Jacksonville along I-10, Take exit 351. Turn left at the stop sign (south) on Chaffee Rd. Go south to Normandy blvd (about 2.8 miles). Turn right and go about 5.1 miles to New World Ave. Turn left. Follow directions below.

If you are coming from the Gainesville area, Come up US 301 to SR228 (Normandy Blvd) in Maxville. Go right about 8 miles to New World Ave. Turn Right. THis should be the first stop light after the road goes from 2lane to divided 4 lane .

Once you get to New World Ave, go south to the blinking yellow light. Turn right. Go until you see a split to the left across from the golf course. Follow to the left and go to next stop sign. You have to turn right. Next stop sign turn right again. Parking lot is on left.

Looking forward to seeing you all out there. We need to start thinking about what food we are going to bring... and how we want to do it...

Later,
Bill

Cool, another 1st gen!! I wont be alone.

Can't wait to see all the cars!

I'm thinking about a 1pm start time, It'll be good for those who want to start early( You know we have to have time to wash the cars and armor all the tires ) and those who can't make it till later. The meets seem to usually last till 5 or so, but can last longer if we want it too, or we can cruise over to the Sonic on Beach and see what's going on. I know some of you guys from out of town might not want to stay too late, but we welcome you if you do...

Later,
Bill
