when I pull up in the gas station the first thing everyone asks or wants to know is about the engine. they all want to see it and hear it. it wouldnt be the same if i had something diffrent under the hood. but thats just me.

The second pic is for WorkmanGT and anyone else who ever wondered...what would a Fortune look like in a dark solid color.
As for the V8 vs Rotary debate...I'm not interested in a flame war, or turning this thread into yet another V8 vs rotary debate. I know what I'm doing to my car some, maybe a lot don't approve of...but quite frankly, I don't care because it is MY car, I'll do what I want to MY car, and you do what you want to YOUR car. If you like it cool, if you don't like it that's cool too, because ultimately, I'm building this car for me and no one else.
In other words, I like the rotaries, and a lot of you guys have done very nice things with your cars, it's just not for me, and just because this is the path I've chosen to reach my goal, does not mean this is the path to reach the goal for anyone else. I'm not going to try and convince you of why I chose a V8 instead of a rotary, I just expect that you don't try to convince me why I should switch back to a rotary or how I ruined the car. I'm agreeing to disagree
Oh...and I'm not going with an LS1, I'm going with a LSX.

1st pic...shipping receipt. 60lbs for the entire body kit and boxes. So even if you didn't take anything off the car, you'd only add 60lbs in body kit. But you remove the stock hood, front bumper, front fenders, pop up headlights, and very heavy rear hatch...I didn't bother weighing all that stuff....but in body alone the added weight would be very negligible. The real weight would come from the larger rims and tires, which if I'm not mistaken slowed the rotary powered version down due to the fact that it did not have enough torque to spin so large of a tire. The added weight of the rims and tires would depend on what kind of rims and tires you went with...but I doubt hundreds of pounds over stock tires.

LSX would be great under the hood of that beast!! IMO you need 450+hp just to keep the looks in line with the performance (it looks like an exotic - ferrari/lambo etc. for the average guy)
out of curiosity, what do you mean you are going LSX? you have to have a block you are using... LS1, ls2, LS7 etc... what are the specs of the motor your planning?
BTW when you get that car done it'll prob be one of the most unique cars ever. I mean honestly, how many ppl do a fortune kit FD with an LSX... its just awesome!

The block's designation is "X", it's not a #. People are used to referring to the Gen III and Gen IV small blocks as a LSx, as x is just a place holder for the #, as 1,2,3,6,7, and soon to be 9. However, GMPerformance Parts has released a LSX block, the X is the designation, as in eXtreme. The Cliff note's version of the upgrades are, the LSX is an iron block opposed to aluminum, instead of 4bolts per cylinder it has 6bolts per cylinder to prevent the heads from lifting off under extreme power levels, can easily be bored out to 4.250" for NA, and with the tall deck can be bored and stroked up to 511cid, and has true priority main oiling, and provisions for either aftermarket dry sump or LS7 style dry sump. With claims of being able to handle upwards of 2,000 to 2,500 hp. (I won't be shooting for anywhere near that claimed level, so my reliability should be pretty high) In other words, I highly doubt the words "Oh...it's just a V8" will ever be muttered by anyone after seeing it run.
Oh and since I'm sure the question of how exactly I plan on putting that much power through a FD IRS would eventually pop up...
The answer is, I'm not. The IRS has been scrapped in favor of a Ford 9" with a Locker and 35spline axles connected to the car via a triangulated 4-link.

2nd pic: LSX, 6bolts per cylinder, no sleeves, and the darker iron color

thank you for clearing up that LSX/LSx misconception I had!
You definitly should get a few more pics and/or vids when you get her done!

Long of the short of that is, I already had the mounting kit installed for a LS1, and the LSX still remains a small block with the same exterior dimensions as the other Gen III and Gen IV small blocks, pretty sure that 572 is a big block, and as such it'd probably have some fitment issues..would need a custom subframe, probably need the shock towers massaged, etc. Money I felt was better spent on internal engine modifications.
I've seen the kit for 9350.
I did come across this video of one running twin turbos....454cid two 88's at 6#'s of boost and it made 1210 at low boost. The guy said they plan on upping it to 20-25psi for over 2khp.

I have to admit, I was skeptical about posting in here given the whole rotary vs v8 discussion already going on, but you guys have certainly given me a very warm welcome and showed genuine interest and thank you very much for that. I'll keep you guys posted and try to answer any other questions you may have.
Up next, there are still a few areas where the body wasn't as smooth as I would like. Really just an issue on a few spots, manual sanding didn't pick them up too well...too small of a sanding block. So I'll be doing a bit of filling, glazing, sanding, and respraying to make sure its as smooth as can be. Then it'll be onto the chore of wetsanding and buffing the car. I didn't mention it before because I wasn't sure how people would react, but this was my first attempt at installing a body kit, and my first attempt at painting a car. But it's been a fun learning experience.
