FD Early Apex & off-course adventure

Here's a link to my early apex, off-course adventure (no damage) at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, Georgia.

I run in the advanced "blue" group, and this was with the Triangle Z and Mid-Atlantic Alfa Romeo Group.

My tires are Kumho V710 autocross (yes autocross) tires in 265/40R16 on 9-inch wheels; Koni adjustable "yellow" shocks; and Tri-point front swaybar.

too committed, too soon, and too much speed at that point.

Other than that you move ed smoothly through the rest of the course that was shown.

Normally, I downshift into "3" into Turn 4, however, my instructor said to try it in "4th gear" in the previous session. It was definitely faster than I am viscerally and mentally used to, but definitely "do-able" when properly executed.

Practice, practice . . .

How much life do you get out of the V710s doing track days?

Glad youre ok. Hilarious reaction. Looks like you just took too much speed and didnt correct the spin early enough. A few corners before that you swung the butt too but you brought it back in nicely. Keep up the good work.

If the ambient temperature is above 85-F, I can run my V710's for only three 30-minute sessions, with about 1.5-hrs between sessions, before they are overheated and are "greasy".

I have had this set for over a year, and I do a monthly autocross, as well as approximately one 2-day HDPE event PER QUARTER.

Yeah, I noticed right when you swung the *** out just that hair too much you tried to correct it all right then...I just recently learned you have to correct a lot sooner then that, too :P

haha, you should ask the other guy what he did..

looks like a fun track to slide... you should've initiated sooner and linked that next corner!!

keep it sidewayz, but on the track!

You get use to it . . .

BTW: I spun in the FD @ turn 9 @ 80 mph and headed for the pit wall.

No damage!

Nope, I was giving what I thought was good maintenance throttle, and no brakes.

Just bad turn setup, too much speed, and perhaps running on the bumpstops.
