fb thunderhill trackday videos

I have a lot of videos posted at http://www.youtube.com/whattheal

all of the recent videos are from the miata performance driving school. Had a blast chasing one of the instructors with a v8 z car (he was taking it easy on me). Also had a spin in turn six with in car footage and from the car behind me.

Nice videos. You are smooth and have good lines. What's the deal with the driving school? Cost? Locations? How did you like it?

Thanks guys, the school is a once a year event mostly catered to miatas at thunderhill raceway, there is one group of non miatas and it really tries to cater to your driving experience, I'll try to remember to post a link for next year's event.

it's still a work in progress, and most of the mods are in the suspension-

GC coilover sleeves/camber plates (running 2 degrees neg camber)
375lb front, 250lb rear springs
koni shocks all around (though they need rebuild)
g force trilink/panhard
cusco strut tower brace
autopower 4 point roll bar
iscracing rear height sleeves
13x7 panasport/205/50/13 V710 tires

Power
RB sp header/presilencer/ rear section
RB intake filter canister
MSD 6AL /2nd gen coil leading ignition
(to come) sterling carb
Dynoed at 105hp at the wheels

That's about it, some weigh reduction, a recaro seat, gauges

Hit Redline, saw your video of your turbo, must be nice to have that much power!
that's about

Zyrano,

Very Nice mod list.

Where did you get the coil overs from? How did you determine the spring weight? Trial and error? I am currently working on some suspension mods myself.

The power of the turbo is awesome, just need the suspension mods to carry the speed in the corners.

I see you are in Santa Barbara. Do you go to any tracks in Socal? Buttonwillow or willow springs? I would like to see your car in person. Mazfest is coming up in a few months and will be at buttonwillow in bakersfield, any plans on going?

Thanks! I use to be in santa barbara, but i've been back in the bay area for a while. Though I might make mazfest depending on how high gas prices go (gas for the suburban is expensive). The suspension setup have been evolutionish project and it's still a work in progress. Part of my setup depends on whether I stay in CSP for autoxes. But I had a pretty good setup with 375/175 without the panhard/trilink. The trilink and panhard works great with the stiffer rear rate, but really threw the balance off. So we tossed the rear swaybar back in hoping to make it better. So to answer your question, it's been somewhat a trail and error deal. As for the coilovers, these are from ground control, but similiar items can be found on re-speed.com.
