this is sad. second time taking my car to the track ran a 14.2 with 75psi on the rear rotor, 85 psi on the front rotor. and origionally a shitty tuning and baldass tires. after a few adjustments and mods i should be in low 13's and i wont have spent more than $5500 plus the cost of the car

can be good performers if you strip absolutely everything out and dump $6000+ into the motor. I ran a 12.3 with my 94 Eclipse last year and no more than $7500 total for car and parts.I don't know, I think I would have stuck with originality rather than reliability in this case. Not everyone that drives a Honda is a ricer, but of course there are lots out there. FWD sucks, period for traction. lots of people into Hondas, but I would never have gone from a RX7 to one...only vice versa.

my point exactly sin, people think all honda/civic owners, are ricers.. NOT! there are plenty of civics out there, that have more than an exhaust and rims.. and the hatchback is the coolest civic. not ugly at all, im just proving a point, u guys are flaming him for buying a civic, well.. all u gotta do is put a b18/k20 in it, and run that ****. stock k20 runs 12's. turbocharge it.. run 9 psi.. u've got urself a pretty slick civic.

My response to this thread was somewhat malicious at first, I apologize. Civics can be very good cars and as ice said, blown motor and still almost what he paid=good deal. I have heard of people making 9 second et studabakers, why? Because they could. Like sin said: originality, but the civic thing is done over more times than Little Kim. Have you ever heard of a 7 driver saying all you gotta do is a motor swap and run that **** TT? No. I just think if your going for fast, start with fast. If your going for unique don't choose a civic. It doesn't matter if you replace everything in the car with custom fabbed ****, someone else out there has one just like it (different stickers does not make you different). Perhaps the most foolish thing you have done here Rex is post this on an RX-7 forum. Try http://www.hondashowoff.com for a better response.

Vtec provides two sets of cams, both wide and narrow to provide good power both up top and down low. While it has other benefits, Honda's main goal was performance. Anything else said about it is a load of horse dung.
So what I still haven't figured out is this: why do many people around here hate Hondas so much? I mean vs. "I don't hate them, they just suck", which people don't say. Is it the ricers? Are Hondas too popular elsewhere? Too many guys with the cheaper Hondas who only think they're fast? Jealous??
And I don't think the poster meant to say that the Civic was an upgrade. At least I hope not.
