I was taking this combination to 8500 + rpm (rotary engine rpm) which is close to the superchargers 13,000 rpm limit (with 7 inch pulley). Eventually the supercharger lobes collided which each other and took out my rotary engine.
I was happy with the results of this combination but I figured I will have to invest a decent amount of hard earned income to get it back to its fomer status. Since I had to pull out the engine and devote much time, effort and money I decided to go for an easier way for me to get more power/torque. I converted to V8 in 2006.

I was always happy with the rotary engine and Camden Supercharger setup. But to get the best results for drag racing I had to take the ported rotary engine to 8500+ rpm. Anything can fail when taken to its limits. That's the calculated risk I had to take to get the most from my setup. The Camden supercharger lived up to its intended purpose but by pushing the supercharger to its outer limits and beyond failures can happen and rightfully so.

My experience with Andy and the Camden Supercharger has always been a very positive one. Andy went above and beyond to help me get my project finished and tuned with invaluable advice and tech support. He was always available when I needed the help. Which was a big bonus. I never felt I was alone on my own to figure everything out. I am very grateful for such great customer service.
Andy even rebuilt the supercharger at no cost to me - now thats great customer service !!

Here's some pics of the port work. This is a 6 port engine. Nick combined/blended the ports into 1 large port. A friend of mine now has this engine and is currently in the process of getting it rebuilt.

I was surprised when I first saw the port work. Nicks the best.

Hopefully I'll be in the time bracket that "Pinks" will choose for their "Shootout".

That would be fun to get in on that. I think it is scheduled on 9/14/2007 to 9/15/2007.

Update:

4 pt bar made with 4130 chro-moly tubing. It ties directly above the Watts linkage setup and I had a tube welded to connect the two points together. Had the body trimmed above the differential. Also had the studs that formerly attached the stock Mazda Diff cut down and had the watts bracket welded. This gave more than enough suspension travel for street use and I haven't had any bottoming out yet, even some hard bumps.

The cage added total of 25 lbs.

I removed the interior trim,
Will remove the dash and center console,
And install Percy's lexan drivers and passenger windows (5 lbs each) this weekend. Ordered the Percy's Speed Glass from Grant at Granny's and got it in 3 days. I've always had nothing but the best customer service and technical advice - totally awesome !!.
These should loose about 30 lbs offsetting the weight of the 4 pt bar.

Thanks

Yes. They actually have the same dimensions and mounting holes as the factory glass. It is designed to be used with the factory window crank/assembly just as the stock glass so the windows can be rolled up and down.

3/16" thickness is recommended because it is approximately the same thickness as the factory and fits in the seal better. I got the .093 thick lexan which is the thinnest/lightest but fits a little looser in the seal.

Oh I get it. You took out all the window tracks and door supports so you can't use a direct replacement type.

I spoke with a production technician at Percy's Speed Glass and he told me that all the drivers/passenger side windows are made from the same lexan blanks with the same curvature regardless of type of car. The windows differ only in the way they are cut to fit the different type of car.

They sell universal extra large lexan side drivers/passenger window so it can be cut to fit special applications that are not listed. Available either with the curvature or without.

Trimming the lexan to fit is easy to do as I had to do it for the front and rear glass. I will probably have to still do it for the drivers/passenger windows as well.

I do everything myself on my car except I had a local speed shop build the engine and the 4 pt cage was fabricated by a chassis shop.

I paid alot more for the rear end setup because I upgraded many of the parts adding to the costs. The peace of mind is worth it for me.
Grant narrowed the rear end as narrow as possible so I can fit the widest wheel/tire within the stock rear fenders. Also this enabled me to use a wheel with a 3.5" backspace for a deep dish look. Plus by narrowing the rear end as narrow as possible less material is used and saves some weight.

I upgraded to racing alloy axles, a racing ring and pinion gearset, Detroit Locker unit, and all adjustable heim end lower control arms and watts link setup. If you go this route the adjustable heim end lower control arms and watts link setup in my humble opinion is a must have purchase as it's adjustability and solid attachments greatly aids in the installation process and improves the suspension performance.

So far (10) runs at the track and about (10) runs on the street. No problems at all and I never have to worry about anything breaking. Its nice to have peace of mind.
About $ 3200.00 for the whole upgraded setup. Taking my time, (2) days work. Very straight forward the tech advice from Grant helped alot. If you need any help PM me and I'll gladly do what I can.

I spoke with Nick today (Rotary Reliability & Racing) I'll have my FC at his display for Sevenstock 10. Stop by and hang out.

New personal best time.

No burn out
Launch at 2000 rpm
Tire: 19 psi

Best of night

(2nd run) 11.055 sec @ 123.79 mph 1.625 sec 60ft
(1st run) 11.125 sec @ 122.73 mph 1.602 sec 60ft
(3rd run) 11.251 sec @ 123.24 mph 1.754 sec 60ft
(4th run) 11.239 sec @ 123.16 mph 1.762 sec 60ft

Lots of tire spin out the hole.
Next time with a good water burn out to heat the tires, and finding the optimum shift points should be a 10.9-10.8 run.

Bring the tire pressure down to about 15 psi and you shouldnt get much if any wheel spin with a burnout even launching off the torque converter.

Thanks. Many of the seasoned racers have also been advising me the same. I had about 17 psi today in the tires and this was the first time I started to do a quick, light 2nd gear burnout. I have no line lock so I don't get much of a burn out to heat the tires.

I forsee the learning curve for me in the quest for 9's to be a long and challenging one. This is new territory for me.

Installing new headlights.

Old flipup setup (brackets, frames, linkages, motors, bulbs, misc) weigh 16+ lbs total for both sides.

New Hella FF75 setup weigh 1 1/4 lb. total for both sides. Uses H7 bulb rated at 55W.

Initial testing with passenger side only seems as good or better than factory setup with Sylvania SilverStar halogen bulbs. Will follow up after drivers side is installed.

Will rewire with weathertite connectors.

Main purpose was to save weight and ease of installation.

I was a little disappointed with the performance of the Hella FF75 lights. Adequate at best. Does not light up the road as well as the factory light (Sylvania Silver Star). Will try to adjust the Hella's and see if it nets any better results.
But good enough to get home from the track and get around town. Will fall short for fast mountain road driving (not that I do any) Worth it for me to save the weight (15+ lbs, especially off the front end) and its simplicity.

Just finished putting my former Camden 7" Supercharger on my friends FC.

When we first started it up I said **** I want a rotary again!!!

Man I sure missed that blower whine, just can't get enough of that sound.

Back to square one to get these dialed in. Hopefully won't take too long.
