.Question about Injector Impedance(mix and Match, etc)

Can you run the Rtek(I will be running the 2.1 on my s4) with Injectors that are Not of the Impedance that the Ecu had before?.IE/if the ecu ran low 550's,can you Change to High Impedance 720's?/..or Run Primary Lows and secondary High impedance on the Same Harness/Engine Setup?...and Since I am not "well versed on the harness aspect" of the Car..Will running a Different Impedance of Injector(say from low to high) involve using the 'resistor Pack"?..Hopefully I don''t get "ragged on" for the questions,I just need simplistic answers,as I am Learning as I go...so,Please "teach me"!.I would sincerely appreciate any Info On this..Peace Guys,.STYX>

From: Rancho Cucamonga Ca,
All our ecu's want to see the high impedance signal. So if you use low imp inj's then you need a resistor for those inj's whether they be your primaries, secondaries or both.

For example, if you are using original high imp. 550 primaries, and some aftermarket low imp. 720cc/min secondaries, you will need a resistor for each of your secondaries.

Example 2. If you are running stock low impedance 550's w/ an resistor pack for your primaries and want to run high imp secondaries then you will need to bypass the resistor pack for your secondaries. Otherwise the ecu will be seeing even higher resistance. You would continue to leave your primaries connected to your resistor pack though.

btw: Interesting question for someone with 4,500 posts!

Yep,Interesting Question Indeed.I have remained in "stock mode" for Three Years, and I Thought it was time to break out of the BOX and Say WTheck!!..and the reason I was asking the Question was: I thought that you could mix and match injector impedance and the Rtek would Run them Regardless,Without having to compensate by Adding Resistors,or whatever.I was assuming the box would make the Changes electronically and allow me to Mix and Match..I guess I was thinking of another "BOX"??.(haltech or something like that?)..I thank you For your Reply HHT..Cheers,Styx.

Another question,so not to BOG the forum

Ok,Now I am understanding the Injectors If low impedance need the resistor Pack(factory).Question: are there HI Impedance Injectors On the Market, that you could use and therefore Nullify having to use the factory Resistor Pack?.

From: Rancho Cucamonga Ca,
Correct, if you use the high imp injectors you don't have use the resistor pack.

Before I knew about the differences in resistance, I had already upgraded my secondary injectors with a larger low resistance pair. To be hosest with you, I my ecu was able to run them just fine. However; the problem is that a lower resistance injector will draw more current through the injector drivers of your ecu. Theoretically this could overload and damage your ecu since more current equal more heat. I ran low resistance injectors for about 2 years and my ecu didn't burn out, I'm not recomending it though, just sharing my experience that the ecu doesn't burn out all that easily. If you need resistor pack I have one for sale in my ebay store. Yourbiggdady. Also, you could run a standard 10 ohm 10watt resistor from radio shack to do the job as well. Good luck and congrats on making the move for more power.
