Rtek Palm not comatible with vista 64bit???
Palm not comatible with vista 64bit???
just got off the phoen with palm, come to find out the T|X isnt compatible with the vista 64bit...
this would explain why it was doing the connect and disconnect issue i post a few months back.
is there any backdoor ways to get this connected?
or am i just up a creek?
worse comes to worse im just gonna sell the whole thing on here if anyone is interested
and just kind of venting cause im pretty mad right now, buuut could rtek, with all the systems they sell, get a better OS to run on?
like:
window
mac
linux
somthing other then palm...
the lady i talked to said ANY tech support would be charged. and it seems ANY software for the palm is charged..
also how long has digitaltuning said on the web site AFM delete (planned)?
sorry like i said im just frustrated, and a little pissed.
if someone has some ideas on how to get this to connect i would be appreciative
thanks brendan

i can tell you the AFM delete is going to take another year minimum.
ALSO. the palm hotsync software works, its just there are no USB drivers. i've heard of bluetooth and Ir workin on 64 bit. not personally tried it, i just opted to install winxp on another partition on my hard drive, and dual boot it when i need it.
Theres also guys that have another work around, using a virtual machine of windows xp and routing it thru the tcp/ip on the 64 bit hotsync.
http://www.vistax64.com/drivers/1903...nc-driver.html
so 1.blue tooth which the tx has, just go buy a 64 bit cabable USB BLUETooth.
2. run win xp as a dual boot.
3. virtual machine.

Thats why I still use XP on ALL my machines.
If its a USB problem syncing over serial should work, but I'll warn you there is a bug in Palm's code that it will only hotsync at 9600 baud or slower....which means it takes a while.
There is another way, though not as neat, by using an SD card and the program called "Filez"
You can put the logger program on an sd card and use Filez to move the program over to the palm. And if you want to move logs or maps over to your PC, you can use filez to move them to the SD card and then SD card to PC.
Hotsync over Bluetooth might work as well, but I never tried it.

Hotsync using bluetooth works on my Windows Vista 64bit & Windows 7 64 bit. I used it on my Palm TX too. It just takes a little more effort. If you have a newer laptop you might already have a built in Blutooth already.
jk.

I was able to get my Sony Clie PEG-T615C to Hotsync with My windows 7 64bit PC thru a IR to USB. I had to have Palm Desktop for Clie. I am posting this because it was a big pain in my *** to get this to work.
I was able to get Hotsync to work for my Palm m130. I did some Googling for about 10 mins and found out that HP doesn't make the drivers for 64-bit Vista for Hotsync but landed upon a homebrewed driver that's compatible. I can email it to you if you still need it.
I assume this is the post you got it from:

Note, these drivers will not work with older devices. Only Palm OS 5 and higher devices.
