Crash Course with tuning

Okay so I got my 2.1 running on my car. I'm running 750x4 injectors on 720/720 setting. I'm using the default maps. So far the only tuning I've done is add more fuel for starting.

I need a crash course on tuning this thing if anyone would care to share. I just need guidance on the best way to navigate the software and what the values mean.

Thanks.

I'd start with the Rtek manual.

Maybe someone else can suggest a tuning primer. I've never ran across one.

I misplaced the manual. Is it on the site?

When I try to tune the fuel by using the bargraph function, it crashes when I select bargraph. Trying to figure that one out as its a pain in the *** to drop a few percent in each table cell.

I pulled some fuel at idle. I don't have an idle control valve, P/S or A/C and its heavily ported, so I run the idle around 1200 (where it seems to be happy) and set my TPS up from there. If I run the idle lower, it will run good for a bit, then sputter and I have to tap the throttle to keep it alive. Probably just something I have to tune out.

I'm running 750 x 4 on the 720/720 setting. Fuel pressure set to 38psi but I was thinking of dropping it to 36Psi as its a rising rate regulator anyways.

I discovered that least time I drove the car last year sometime, that I was having fueling issues, attributed to a faulty regulator.

I discovered the car still has the same problem, only everything is new. EVERYTHING. Except my harness. I refurbed it a bit, but I must have a faulty ground or connection somewhere because my secondary injectors will not fire. Car totally falls flat on its face around 4000 rpm. I'm going to start checking connections and metering out possibilities. This isn't an rtek problem, its a harness problem.

Tracked the problem down to a bad map sensor (boost sensor). Waiting on a new one.

Do you know how to change the display from metric to imperial? Mine displays in metric and it makes it a little tricky to changes maps that are in imperial.

So I tested everything on the car. The Map tested good as per FSM, the TPS tested good as per FSM. Even the AIT sensor tested good. Hell, everything tested good.

Car still doesn't work right. Going to take off the manifold and test the injectors and other stuff. This isn't an rtek issue at all. Just following up on my car issues for advid readers.

Solved.

The thought occurred to me that my engine has huge porting. So I switched the settings to 550/550. The idle dropped to 10, so I tuned out the fuel. Surprisingly the bar graph works on 550 settings and not 720 settings for me.

Anyways, I now have warp speed in every gear. Hopefully I'll get a good tune and a good drive out of it tomorrow before I leave for work on rotation. Because when I get back, there will be a metre of snow!
